Hull reinforcement

I am still too far away from civilisation to have a combat-proven view on this but what I've read about these makes me want to say what most are saying around here: utterly useless.

Your shields go down, power plant says shoot me, you go pop. Hull reinforcement or not. AND they add weight. Don't bother.

Are we sure Reinforced Hull like the Military Variant don't protect the Powerplant more than the Lightweight Alloy?

Im ok for targeting the Powerplant, reducing it to 0 and the ship goes kaboom!
even when its overall Hull is at 75%, since this is different thing.
But a stronger Hull should reduce the amount of damage coming through to the subsystems.

So have we tested it for sure how many shots with a pulse laser can take a power plant
with standard and reinforced hull?

I am certainly willing to test this. I can buy a sidewinder or be the guy shooting at it until it explodes. CMDR Xodz

However, it is a general consensus that hull, or hull reinforcement, does not protect subsystems.

Two different things.

The armour upgrades (mill, reflective) I'd always understood to change resistance, which included modules.

Hull reinforcements however upgrades the amount of hull damage you can take (think hit points ) but don't protect modules

Even that is questionable as they will slow you down and make you less maneuverable, which basically means you could end up taking more damage (more hits).

NPC's certainly do target power plants, My asp has 2x armor and 2x shield boosters. I've had my power plant go down to 3% with an anaconda and a drop ship targeting it. The hull was 97% so I wasn't bothered about getting hit.

If they were to add "module armor" to the game then hull reinforcements would most probably become completely useless, because what's the point? :)

Modules should be protected by the hull, since they are inside of the hull. Hull armor should make hull stronger and therefore protect whatever is inside of the hull. Think about old days battleship, few inches thick hull protects all good stuff inside. The only reason why hull armor not protecting stuff inside, because it is broken and just doesn't work. I hope it will be fixed at some point. As for now, I'm using my Clipper's speed instead, and once my shield is down I make 180 and recharge. No need to invent new protection, they should fix existing one. Otherwise what's the point?😉
