Newcomer / Intro Human vs. NPC

Hello Everyone,

I've been playing a lot of Elite Dangerous lately and I do play in open mode, however I've recently started thinking.. why have I never seen another player since I started playing?

From what I understand, NPCS are solid items on the radar and players are hollow and will have Commander preceding their name.

If this is the case, I've never seen another human player and I do frequent busy areas. Is this normal, or should I be seeing other players?

I can go a while without seeing anyone, but also I can have times (and locations) where I'll see quite a few, especially around Leesti and Lave as well as Sol of course.

Some internet lines have worse match making than others, as in it's difficult to find players compatible with it

Also, have you tried going to places like Sorbago or war zones? Loads of people there

regarding the 'compatible' comment, the server tries to match your line based on various things, like ping etc, so not to mix people with too much difference in network speed. I'd check in the forum if anybody else had problems like this and had to open ports, think I saw a thread about UDP port the other day

War zones? Are these like anarchy places? I feel as though I've visited many zones but I may be wrong as I just basically went places aimlessly.

War Zones will appear within a given system, much like the Unidentified Signal Sources... but labelled War Zone, or Distress Call Zone, etc.

I have also never seen a war zone then, where do these usually appear? I would be interested in combating a human for a change lol
