Don’t want to use clichés 2 much, but it is true that many roads lead up to … well… anywhere you like. So, if you have a different interpretation of the road to take, let us know. Some like it the rough way, so like it soft. These are relative terms anyway.
How I would start as a newby:
Things to consider already at the start:
Whether you do this all on Solo or Open mode of gameplay, your choice, more safe is Solo.
Good luck and hopefully, have fun.

How I would start as a newby:
1. Sell your cargo bay and pew pew lasers and buy yourself a fuel scoop.
2. Head out to near star systems and gradually expand, discover the objects in those systems with your basic scanner.
3. Head back to your homebase, sell your findings. Don’t wait too long with each iteration, you don’t have enough
experience yet to stay out for too long and risk of losing your stacked discoveries because of ship destruction
(for whatever reason). Dont save your game nearby stars or planets, keep a good distance, couple of LS.
4. Repeat this for a time until you can buy a cobra with large cargo bays, by then you have mastered the basic
landing and takeoffs at stations and your motoring skills are adapted to the joystick/mouse control.

5. Start trading. Use this link as a help: http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/
6. Good trade routes are plenty, first you might find only one way, multiple jumps, be patient. Your profit might not also be as
the rest here in this forum advocates to have found. Don’t worry, you will find your’s sooner or later.
7. Make some good money, to buy bigger ships, with the reasoning of bigger trading cargo bays = more profit.
8. Avoid combat as much as you can while traiding & exploring at the start of your career, trading will soon get boring,
but by that time, you have much more cash I recon.
# ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------9. Buy yourself a nice combat kitted viper, not too fancy. Use this link as a help: http://www.edshipyard.com
10. Make some cash with bounty hunting & combat bonds.
11. Work on all these three main professions from now on to advance your ranking status and get better ships
which can do more in less time.

12. Side things you can consider once you have mastered the above three professions: missions, Community Goals (CG),
play in wings in Open, piracy, power play & mining & smuggling & advanced exploration. Who knows, maybe planetary
landings will be available by then…

Things to consider already at the start:
a. If you ever get out of fuel again: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=150703
b. Make sure you can rebuy your ship with insurance if you get blown out of space!

c. Get yourself a good HOTAS stick, it will help a lot!
d. Don’t buy occulus rift YET, too bulky in current state and might place another difficulty to your starter skills, wait for
their official mass-product, unless you like to collect gadgets...
