[Humour] Aaaaaarggh, Sod's Law Strikes Again!

So I've just had to peg it from the Nespeleve system.

Last few days spent fighting in the HazRez sites at Nespeleve 9 for the CG, earning decent credits and getting myself up into the top 15% for the event. 20 minutes ago I was tussling with a Python near a Type-9 under heavy attack when it popped a hatchbreaker limpet (because of course it did) and my shiny new Fer-de-Lance's point defense turrets opened fire with the kind of wild, reckless abandon seen in newborn lambs and meth addicts with nothing left to lose. I watched horrified as the torrent of tiny rounds clipped the T-9...just as it folded under a disco-ball of pirate lasers. Ba-ding! 10,500cr bounty.

I had managed to keep my charge list squeaky clean after I reset to take the Cobra IV challenge when 2.0 dropped...five months ago. Now I've got a murder rap on my record and what tattered, abused shreds remain of my conscience, and I can't head back into Nespeleve for a week, which means no bounties handed in or reward collected for seven painful and salty days.

Typical.

I'm fine. I'm ffffffffuuuu~

As Hell is my witness I will find this 'Sod' and fffFFFFUUUUU~

I'm currently sat in an Empire system nearby, at a platform far too close to the sun, soaking up a good dose of radiation to complement the searing burn in my forehead from banging it slowly and repeatedly against a wall. Why, point defense turrets? I trusted you, I thought we were friends. I fed you, kept you polished and oiled and showed you the wonders and horrors of the galaxy! Well, mainly the horrors. How could you betray me like this?

Are...are you drinking my tears?

As painful as it is to see several months of careful effort evaporate due to one defense turret's drunken hillbilly shenanigans, this does help explain a few strange bounties I've previously had slapped on my record by the unyielding and curiously moist hand of intergalactic justice, most all of them in HazRes. It should have been obvious really. Tiny damage is still damage to an unshielded ship. Goddamit T-9, couldn't your screaming disaster of a hull have held together just a few more seconds? Y'know, so I wouldn't get blamed. Very sad you died and all that, etc., but really this isn't all about you y'know. Jeeeeez.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to the bar, then I'm uploading a copy of Windows 95 alpha build to the turrets. They will share this pain, oh yes.

Hah! No seriously, I'm fine. I'm ffffFFFFFFFUUUUUU~

Bye a sidewinder, and go pick a fight with the station/security. you will get killed, which is compensation for killing the T9, and your murder bounty will be dispelled into the ether. You can then go back to what you were doing!

Make sure the last place you land the Sidewinder was in Nespeleve - otherwise you get a dormant bounty which will comeback as a bounty if you are scanned in Nespeleve. Best bet is to buy a Sidewinder NOT in Nespeleve. Kit it out with best thrusters/FSD etc... jump into Nespeleve and land somewhere, sell of ALL the kit on the Sidewinder until it down to the bare minimum (E-class everything, no weapons etc..) then take off and pick a fight with someone and wait to die. Now you are clean and its cost peanuts.

I've been fined for PD turret fire hitting a security ship. Given you have no control over PD's, that should be addressed so that nothing happens if you hit someone.

Nice write-up.

Repped for the amusing story and also having an awesome avatar (to me my filthy assistants!)

Best graphic novel series ever :D

I'm just moping about and eyeballing the "clear save" button at the moment. I can handle fines for crashing ships, smuggling narcotics, flagrant public nudity and relentless conspiracy to commit the same, but murder one? That's a bit of a millstone about the neck, which is still sore from all the head banging. I know it was technically out of my control, but still. Finished in the top 15% for the CG though! Woo, go me~ X.x

On the other hand maybe I could get used to it... @wo

Nobody cares if you're wanted in a Haz RES, so you can carry on. When you want to hand in your bounties you use the same tactics as smuggling to get in and out of the station. It's no problem.
