For those that follow the radio show, and the mini radio plays Hutton Orbital Radio....
Over the last 12 months, we have been joined by a gentleman by the name of Cecil. He rather enjoys a Centuari Mega Gin or two - usually from a Hutton Mug, though it is said that he quite likes a Lavian Brandy, Indi Manhattan and even the odd beer.
Around 3 months ago, the Hutton Truckers community and a bunch of our listeners from the Paladin Consortium concocted a plan to kidnap him, tie him up and put him into a recording studio with HCS, the guys that do the voicepacks and come up with a NEW kind of voicepack. As SpecialEffect is very close to our hearts here at Hutton, we agreed to help and donate money from each pack to the Charity and build something that will give them a modest regular income (hopefully).
So - the Cecil "Passenger" Pack was born. Designed, scripted, voiced by the Elite community, 72 people backed the project and stumped up the cash for the studio time/licensing/artwork etc and last Monday/Tuesday, we headed into the studio to get the raw audio recorded.
Accompanied by the cast of the forthcoming "Echoes from the Hold" pack including Kate Russell, Drew Wagar, FireyToad, Mahddogg, Dan Grubb, ObsidianAnt, Noctivagus, HughMann, Baz from SpecialEffect and of course "Midnight" from HCS, both packs were recorded. Stunning good fun and "Cecil" himself put in an epic, if a little inebriated showing.
So - it's a "thing" - being released to co-incide with the release of the 2.2 update, it's raising money for charity and it is the work of the Hutton Truckers!
Meet "Cecil" (please note the parental advisory note):

If you've never heard him - you can find his very first letter to Alvin (our faction leader) on our soundcloud along with many others - he has also been guest host on the radio show on a thursday and visiting voice on Mindwipe's RetroVault show on a Monday night. This is a different kind of pack - he doesn't help you fly the ship - he would be a liability, but say out loud "we're under attack", "pour me a drink, old boy", "we're entering glide" or ask him about various other player groups (the EDC, The SDC, Achenar Immortals, Mercs of Mikunn and many others) and he has an opinion on just about anything. Or a drink for it. Or just says "for the mug". A lot. 500 different responses to just about anything you can get up to in game.
This is a thank you to the community from me. Every time we come up with a new silly bit of fun for people to have in game, people take part and keep asking for more. It is and will carry on being our pleasure to do these kinds of things. I may have done a Kerrash and had a little "squeeeee" when Midnight himself arrived in the studio. Oh - by the way - our next event is on Sunday next week and it's another race ;-) Our anniversary of the Hutton Mug existing.
http://www.huttonorbital.com if you want to see the other shenanigans we get up to or tune in to the radio station.
(p.s. in case anyone asks, the Hutton team are not making a penny off this, nor is Cecil himself - we will get a quarterly statement and make a donation for each one sold)
