my thoughts turned to what the best ship is for a hull tank build.
Personally I think this would be a choice between the Federal Gunship and Alliance Challenger.
The FGS has a better distro which helps a lot with weapon choice. For example I use a large sturdy mount beam with thermal vent, four MC's and two small pulses. This means I can use SCB without the worry of heat sinks, it then frees up an extra utility for another shield booster. The Challenger can't really support the beam for extended firing so with that I tend to use a mix of pulse and MC's, it's effective but the DPS of the Gunship is awesome.
The better fire power of the Gunship is partly negated by the better manoeuvrability of the Challenger, which flies much better in my opinion. It's not even close.
However, the Gunship has better internals to stack more hull reinforcement- the second size 6 makes a big difference. Each has quite obvious advantages over the other. Both have quite poor shields, although running bi-weaves they do come back quite quickly on both.
Personally I prefer the Gunship because once I can unleash all seven hard points it's so effective. Against NPC's the poor manoeuvrability isn't a problem.
Does anyone else have thoughts for hull tanking/hybrid? I know the Corvette and Cutter get great numbers but they really are easy to hit and I find I get a bit bored of each quite quickly
