Scenarios HYBRID scenario + challenge (my first attempt)

Hello everyone,

So this is my first attempt at this and I hope people actually like/play it.

I have thought since I first played this game that I would like to see the ability to have challenges within scenario mode. For some reason I really enjoy the challenges but I also love career mode.

To find in workshop search for : Scenario & Challenge Hybrid - Six Flags Coaster Kingdom

I decided to create my own hybrid map that has both objectives AND challenges. The way that I did this was by using gold chests with detailed descriptions of each challenge and putting it at the edge of the map. When the player completes the objectives they can sell the chests for profit. Right now there are two types of challenges, park and coaster. Park challenges simply reward you for completing a scenario objective. Coaster challenges reward you for creating a coaster with a specified theme. Each type of challenge has three tiers: bronze, silver and gold. Bronze objectives for coasters are more general such as "build a horror theme coaster" while silver & hold are more direct "build a saw or star wars themed coaster" or "build a game of thrones themed coaster". You are rewarded $7,500 for bronze challenges and over $30,000 for gold. There are a total of 9 coaster challenges.

The actual park scenario involves taking over "Six Flags: Coaster Kingdom". An eccentric millionaire hired you to build the park of his dreams. The catch is that he only wants coasters in the park. Your given a very elaborate park enterance to start with as well as 1 coaster. Most items need to be researched. The way to be successful is to pay attention to the challenges and attempt to build your coasters per the challenges.

Anyway here is the screenshots of the challenge board in the map and the park area you start with:

That's a fun idea but you might come across a couple of problems. Gold chests pump up your scenery score by a lot so as you complete an objective and sell them off your scenery score is going to lower and less guests will arrive to your park (unless this is countered with other scenery elsewhere to tip the balance back). The chests will also depreciate in value over time. Not sure how much but they won't be valued at $10,000 3+ years from the start.

Interesting, I did not think about the scenery score.

I imagine that it should balance out given the objectives to earn the chest. Since each of the coaster objectives requires you to build a coaster to a specified theme I imagine that a lot of scenery score would be gained, I assume more than a gold chest that is not near any rides would deduct when sold. I could be wrong but I think that provided the player fully themes the ride like the objective intends then it will balance out.

Still, I wish there was a way to do challenge objectives without the gold chests but I really can't think of any other way to do it :(

If the price does depreciate I don't think it will be too bad. The refund setting is at 75% so I would assume they should still sell for that? I've never heard that scenery prices go down but I'd like to know the numbers for this, would be good information to have.
