Hi I just recently changed my power plant for the cobra mk 3 and was able to jump fine I then decided to change the frame shift drive to a C version and can no longer jump it says my range is 2lys for some reason even when I change it back it remains the same is this a bug or am I doing anything wrong.

look at the class, which is it's size. Cobra needs a class 4 FSD.
Misery loves company coz I just did the same thing. Well actually I was doing a compare and it a fit of fat-fingered-foolishness I bought a lower class drive, cant get mine back and now am stuck in STEIN 2051............
Am now wondering if I can stuff my ship into something and use the insurance to get another cobra, but with the original frame drive in it,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yes, you can. Just when it comes to insurance time deselect the FSD and anything else you don't want, you should get standard equipment then.
Thanks for confirming my "wondering" about getting back an "oe" Framedrive. Had another thought:
Why not go out swinging? Just to work out my own frustration I started cruising around the system looking for wanted ships. Got lucky and took out a wanted NPC for a fat bounty of 15,000.
