Hyperdrive, is it now longer or has my ship slowed down?

My first play since the update and first thing I noticed was that the time in hyperdrive seemed about five times longer than normal, whilst it gave a more realistic impression of traveling a long distance, it did get a bit boring as I seemed to be spending more of my time looking at the screen rather than playing a game.
Is this part of the recent update?
The other thing I noticed was that some times it would revert back to the more sensible length of time.
It didn't seem like jump distance was related to the differences in time as a 17ly jump took just seconds.

There is a lot of things happening went you are jumping. I don't have much details, but the system you are jumping to has to be forged by a server. I believe there are a couple, and when one is busy, you get redirected to another one. If that one is too busy, you get the picture... Then there is getting connected into an existing instance, a bubble or "world" you may call it. This also can take a longer time when things are busy. Take in account the availability of resource for that part of the world you are from, and it could well be you'll sometimes have wait longer then normal.

It does seem to be slower, even allowing for new instances spawning in a chain. Last time I jumped 20.7 LY, I had several people offer to clean my windscreen while I waited at the lights...

I wondered if it was in preparation for an explorable ship interior update, to give you time to walk to and use the smallest room in the ship, and to wash your hands.
