hyperspace speed

When you're in hyperspace the speed indicator says you're going a few thousand c but it should actually be millions or even 10s of millions on a big jump.

Is it just me that noticed / is (very slightly) bothered by this?

30 LY in 15 seconds for my explorer asp
So 30c would mean a year or 365 days
3000c would mean 3.65 days or 80 hours
30,000c means 8 hours or 480 minutes
3,000,000 means 4.8 minutes, call it 5 which is 300 seconds
30,000,000 for 30 seconds
So 60,000,000c for 15 seconds

To me the speed indicator jumps around like crazy indicating that it can't indicate the speed.

I was going to say youve missed factoring in the length contraction but then remembered the FSD works outside of relativistic effects

But I think Kyudos is on the right track, the speed indicator jumps up and down suggesting it cannot determine a speed possibly because we are running high above its degree of measurement.

Of maybe, speed is relative in "witchspace"

The hyperspace drive opens up a portal and throws your ship into another dimension, it then reopens another portal and you end up in the original dimension.

For the frame shift drive, there is 2 directions of theory; The FSD shortens the distance from your destination and your ship, meaning you have travelled a very large distance with far less time, OR

The FSD creates a space warp wave and your ship rides this wave, constantly "falling" into a gravity well generated by your ship, Akin to the camel with a stick and carrot tied to the end of the stick so the camel infinitely runs foward towards the carrot but never ends up there.

Basically hyperspace jumps work along the same principle as an artificially generated wormhole.

Hyperspace or Witchspace as it should be called is very hard to navigate. Basically your ships computer doesn't have a clue what's going on.
