I absolutely LOVE this game! thank you FD

Everyday i learn something new in it. I can't say that about very many games.

To Frontier, do not be discouraged, keep making the game that "you" want to play as you have said Mr Braben

I have played strategy games most of my life. Whether Risk, Axis and Allies, Panzer blitz (a hex game)
Video games like Civ V, Moo 2 or Galactic Civilizations. I have played Eve and some of the X series.

This game is complex, the Background sim, mixed with the mission system that Connects it all meaningfully, mixed with the Power play.
Folks that don't figure it out are missing out. Taking those protesters actually DOES something. Mining ore and selling to a station WILL effect governments, powers, OTHER PLAYERS.
Taking territory CAN be very satisfy. Collecting data via scanning is POWERFUL stuff if you understand how to use it.
Fighting a battle for 3 or 4 days CAN make a difference.

Its a game yes, but a very satisfying game for me. Thank you FD. keep it up.

I just find it hard to click Login.

Once I am in the game I'd always find something to do and often not enough time to do them before going to bed.

But every day I don't have the motivation to click Login. I'd rather enjoy playing other games. It doesn't get me excited. And many a time I found my missions failing and all the work putting the effort to get reputation gone down the drain.

In fact I haven't logged in for almost a week. And many days in previous weeks as well.

I think Elite may be a game for people that can afford the time to play.

Does sort of suck there is no in between. It's all or nothing it seems at times.

I've been playing since launch my net worth is 550mill and my highest rank is ranger.

I'm a pretty hardcore gamer that works from home trading in the stock market. So yeah, I have plenty of spare time to enjoy the game on a separate monitor. I also played many MMORPGS as well over the years including, Asherons call, Dark Age of Camelot and Guild Wars 2. All huge time sinks. Everyone has to find the game that gives them the enjoyment they are looking for. Take on the fact that Ii love Star Trek etc and this game may well be Perfect for me. Earliest games for me ironically simalar to Brabens were space invadors, asteriods and Defender/Stargate. I even won a competition playing Defender Stargate long ago.

What do you do when you find that game but cannot invest hours upon hours completing a basic task in said game.

:(

Same here, still loving this game and taking it at a nice relaxed pace...i feel sorry for the ones who want everything now and grind their way through to a burnout.

Yep, I love the game too :)
I do fear the bombast on display here borders sarcasm territory but crikey, those things are true even if they aren't as pronounced as some people would wish.
Keep up the good work FD :)

I so agree with the OP.
When out exploring and you take the time to read the information you get after scanning a planet etc. you'll find it's quite interesting and educational, when you're into that sorta thing.

:(

Experience, learn what you CAN do in 2 hours (sort of living within your means). There is plenty in the game that can be done in 2 hours or less. Avoid tasks that requires more time then you have. This takes a bit of time to learn but can be done.
Mission fails are part of ANY game. Interestingly failing missions in THIS game can actually hurt your enemies lol. so even there, it has useful purpose.

Most will never get a legendary weapon in Guild Wars 2.
Most will never fly a Titan in EVE online
Must Could never lead an entire army in DAoC because it takes time to organise it all get a reputation as a leader etc. BUT.. many can participate for a hour or two to CONTRIBUTE

Interdict a few ships and kill them or go to a rez site and kill a few.. easily done in 1 hour.
scan some data and sell to a faction you want to support. easy in 1 hour
deliver a few cargo runs easy in one hour
Join a multi crew and fly a slf. easy in one hour
Set up for mining and mine ore, sell to help a faction. easy in 2 hours.

If you don't like the game. move on. I LOVE it. GL

yes forget what your customers want, you keep on making the game that "YOU" want to play (even though we know you don't play it and neither does your developers, proof is on the streams) let's see how long you will ride this train.

Elite is the perfect game for me. It has everything i like. It has it's faults but it's still a long way from finished. Glad to be part of the development journey. We all moan about things sometimes in this game but I'm so glad they decided to make Elite again.

I've been saying this for years now. People still just think it is paranormal bogus. But I say it again:

Background Sim is real guys!!! When you complete missions and trade and stuff, it actually does something!

Sure it is invisible and I can not prove anything that can be empirically tested with the same results with ease. But it is out there guys! It does work!

As someone who has to work on software being used by (vastly different) customers, I can tell you right now it's very hard to please them all. Not to mention customer X wants something, that directly goes against what customer Y wants out of the software.

You just have to hope there is a middle ground you can take, or you just have to be strict and tell both customers "no, we are going to do it this way". Decisions you make might put off a few customers now, but you might gain many more customers than are actually leaving. If they think the changes they are making are worth the risk (upsetting a few people), then it's their right I guess.

Bottomline: I have some gripes with E.D., but in the end it's one of the few games I have played for absurd amount of hours. Can't say I didn't get value for money. I do sympathise with a lot of criticisms on this forum, but I'm glad someone is trying to make the game that I want (even if it's not a 100% to my liking).

I'm glad Frontier bothered making a space game, because I was not going to do it by myself for sure :) It's not perfect nor will it ever be, but right now I consider this the best we have... Who knows what a little competition in the future will do :)

I can say first hand that the BGS is alive and well.
I have chosen to defend and protect The Federation, too many picking on old Hudson lately. Retook a control system from a independent and gave it back to a fed faction.
I have many projects defending assets, taking assets, flipping governments. all for the sake of the BGS and the Federation.

I Must PURGE the dictatorships by all means :) whether through trade/data, war/combat, passengers. whatever it takes, even driving real Players out if need be.
The game really comes alive once you actually take a side, pick a few goals and monitor, research the maps (A LOT) and watch the daily ticks to see if you need to put a bit more "Cowbell" into it :p
