A little background, I have been playing Elite since release a few years back and I regularly clear my save with every major patch, I also play pseudo iron man via the wonderful pilot ejection table created by Mossfoot. I created this thread to just spread a little love for the new progression rate in ED. In previous versions, I always felt that credits in the early parts of the game were incredibly easy to come by and provided no incentive to stay in the early ships. I usually was into a Cobra within an hour play session, with no need to purchase any ships in between. Progress after that point was a tad slow due to the ever increasing price of ships past the Cobra, but progress was still obtainable via multiple avenues.
With 2.2 this has all changed, I've played every day for about 2 hours since release and I am just now getting out of my sidewinder and I love it! Yes mission payouts have been nerfed, but for me this is a good thing as it slows down the overall experience and allows me to enjoy each ship I purchase. I also notice that with a lot of these missions the initial payout is low but they are multi phase missions and the bonuses attached are usually over 10k, easily making these mission worth while in a sidewinder. I can only assume payouts will scale as I progress with system rep and ship capabilities.
I think the changes to mission payouts actually forces me to use my brain to make money, search for new trade routes, try activities I wouldn't normally try, and overall play the game more. I say all this knowing that this is just my opinion and my perspective on the changes. I also know that there are players out there with a completely different perspective and I respect that. My only goal here is to say thanks to FD for 2.2, keep up the good work, and stick to your vision, you'll never please everyone. Thanks and fly safe o7
