I actually prefer the Viper over the Vulture

I'm slowly trying all ships sub 10 million and got the Vulture yesterday.
After doing a few RES with it...I miss my Viper.

I've seen plenty rave about the Vulture and how it's king and this and that, but here's why I don't like it:

- Viper has much more speed. Feels like a real fighter
- Vulture can't fit class 3 chainguns...because of the simple reason class 3 chainguns don't exist. I love my dakka dakka
- Vulture has much more micromanagement with the power. Viper flies a bit simpler
- Vulture canopy is much more prone to cracking. Once the shields go down you really can't tank anything
- Viper just looks better. Looks sleek. Vulture looks like a fat crab
- I loved the new BSG series, and the Viper reminds me of their fighter with the chainguns and maneuverability. Vulture, not so much
- Less visibility in the Vulture cockpit. I like being able to see to my sides in the Viper for targets
- Viper sounds better to me. Love hearing the engines whine up and down. Vulture sounds muddled
- Viper is much cheaper to replace if you have an "oops"

Obviously this is all opinion. I've already sold my Vulture back and will use the credits to outfit an Asp trader/explorer.
Sticking with my Viper for bounty hunting and dedicated combat. It was my first upgrade from the sidewinder and I've grown rather fond of it.

Viper power!

so far nothing can keep up with vultures turnrate und throttle up and down speed... yet it is only common to use c3 puls lasers^^"
still a terrifying combat ship!

the viper on the other hand has a more slender profile and is harder to hit. plus it can be equipped with fixed weapons way better, for its hardpointplacement is just a dream!

thats the aspect i absolutely love about this game, (nearly) everyship has its purpose and own ups and downs!

I love my Viper and keep it in a dock somewhere as a failsafe, but I enjoy flying my Vulture at the moment, it's extremely efficient and fun to fly. When I'm rich enough I'll eventually replace it with an FdL as my dedicated fighter. I sure feel more attached to the Viper, which has followed me since my first days in beta.

I have a thing for my good old cobra, so I kind of sympathise with you and your Viper, but come on. Vulture. V-U-L-T-U-R-E. The nastiest, badassest, most furious piece of metal in E D. Now that it's here, in the overall ships ranking scale, the Viper is now closer to the sidey and the eagle.

The good thing is you can have both!
I enjoy flying my Viper (2 beams, 2 pulses), but it's like fighting with a rapier. Dance, keep distance, strike. Elegant.
Flying the Vulture is like fighting with a battle axe. Get close, really close and just rip the enemy apart without thinking like a berserker. Brutal.

I'd argue it takes considerably more skill to do well in the Viper than the Vulture, and that a majority of Vulture pilots fall somewhat short of "good".

Ouch... Harsh. I love my vulture, and personally I'd like to think I'm at least ok... But then again I don't even want to try pvp. So i guess in the end, I think I like my Asp best. XD

Hello there

Im a Viper fan.

Im sure the Vulture is a more capable machine, but the cost vs risk, for me is not worth it.

Plus, I feel more comfy in my Viper than the Vulture.

What I like about this game (and I hope something that still happens in the future) is that we can use the ships we like. We dont have to grind to get "Teh Ultimatez" ship.

Until recently I was deliriously happy in my Eagle.

So far the ASP and Vulture have left me feeling a little cold, even pimped out.

Im thinking of going back to a Cobra.

Im a traditionalist.

Nowt wrong, all things considered, with the Vulture I just prefer the Viper.

Different Strokes for different folks.

I was gonna pop in and say that you're crazy from the title, but after reading your post. . .You're right, I do like the viper a bit more. But the Vulture is just so, efficient. Piloting a viper takes, what's that stuff called. . .effort.

I think that people greatly exaggerate how much "better" the Vulture is than the Viper. It's at least as much of a sidegrade as it is an upgrade, especially in terms of PvP.

Which is why the Vulture is much better than the Viper.

The only advantage the Viper has is that cool engine crackle. It is the baddest sounding ship I have driven..
