After a month's worth of waiting pledged to the cute girl in order to get Prismatic shields- I was yet again EXTREMELY Letdown.. All that time and not one place did I ever read about the module weight being doubled!
I was unpleasantly surprised to find the 7A prismatic shield at 160tons and only would increase my shields 300 more megajoules. To lose valuable jumprange and maneuverability over 300 MJs is just plain STUPID when I am going from 2149MJ to 2451MJ.
Instead, I am doing all I can to get my reputation increased with Lei Cheung so I can increase my level 2 modded shield generator and level 1 modded boosters.

The best place to find out how different kits and loadouts effect your ship is to play around with configurations in Coriolis.io. eg it will show you if you replace a standard 7A Shield generator with a 7A prismatic weight change is from 80t to 160t and will show you the difference in recharge & shield recovery time etc. It is a great tool.

Yep, and it is my fault for not doing that. I even have the webpage open on my iPad.
