One thing I noticed is that we have yet to see any tiny dinosaur so far in the Jurassic World Evolution 3 gameplay. A lot of the tiny ones introduced in Jurassic World Evolution 2 are canon, so they have a really strong chance of transitioning over to JWE3. And with how Jurassic World Rebirth is marketing the new cute Aquilops, it stands to reason that Jurassic World Evolution 3 may still accompany tiny dinosaurs.
The smallest dinosaur we have seen so far is protoceratops, doubly so as a baby in the recent BBC footage. With that in mind, I often see mention that Jurassic World Evolution 3 will have tiny dinosaurs, but they won’t breed as they are already so tiny, assuming they are of the selection of animals that don’t breed. I personally think that selection is for the hybrids but we have to see once more information comes out.
I personally think that tiny dinosaurs will breed, but they won’t have a Juvenile model, not only because they are already so tiny in the game, but juvenile animals of such sizes barely stay juvenile for long. At most, they could be juvenile for a few months before reaching adulthood.
This does bring up the question how long other dinosaurs stay juvenile in game, will this affect how long a year in game is in real life? And would we have a Planet Zoo like setting where we could multiply the duration of the animal’s lifespan, so we could see the babies much longer and have more time to set up the dinosaurs’ next breeding session.
Back on topic of scavenger’s and tiny dinosaurs, we have:
I think these dinosaurs are very likely to be part of the roster in JWE3, and that they are likely to breed. However, I think they are unique in that they may not have juvenile models in the game. I think we would be placing for them nests that acts more like burrows and dens. So when they breed in those nests, new adults would simply pop out instead of juveniles. If that is for the case, this would act more like an automated hatchery for tiny dinosaurs than a nest mechanic we have seen so far, and I think it would be a convenient way to manage tiny dinosaur populations without needing to incubate and transfer a new batch the old one dies out. The downside is that they may be the ones that are exempt from acquiring a higher appeal, as only juveniles that have reached comfortable adulthood could retain the boosted appeal. For all we know, they could breed like rabbits in game, and the appeal boost would be game breaking.
With that said, I also see this topic on Reddit which really would be fascinating.
Will scavengers and similarly small carnivores have the ability to be nest raiders?
I really think this would be a fun new mechanic. Scavengers in JWE2 are known to like virtually everyone they are housed with besides hybrids, and most dinosaurs don’t mind their presence as well. However, that dynamic could quickly shift if eggs are involved, as the cute little exhibit companions could be seen as pests. Knowing that a tiny little dinosaur could ruin one of the few chances your other dinosaurs to pass their offspring successfully sounds really interesting. Will we see motherly behavior where the parents would scare off scavengers? Will certain nests be untrainable? And will there game mechanics the player could get familiar with to house scavengers together with other breeding dinosaurs, limiting nest raids as much as possible if not altogether?
