I am curious... Who else here is a dedicated & full-time miner?

I started mining recently, and I absolutely love it!

To me it is the most involved form of space-trucking out there.

But I don't see many people talking about their mining exploits... :(

Is there anyone else here who treats mining as their primary activity in ED? I certainly do, I've even invested in a Sidewinder for exploring, just to support my prospecting.

I run a Cobra Mk IV, "The Prancing Alicorn", as my mining platform. She's a steady ship, I'm definitely not one of the haters; quite the opposite in fact. :D

I even have an SRV on board to collect resources from the surface of planets.

Unlikely to be many in the Exploration forum - I think most of us will be Explorers???

Are you Imperial?
If so, I can hook up wi ye and protect you from NPC's (and maybe a player, if we're (un)lucky?

And NO, I am neither pirate nor griefer. :)

I'll mine anywhere. I guess you could call me Imperial because when I'm not mining I'm running slaves. I'm also considering joining Torval for the Lance. :D

I am Lavigne (or whatever the spelling).
Close enough. XD

I just got me a kill 75 pirate mission, 1 day 4 hours time left.
Got to do me that one to fix my rep first.
got a 2% loss for killing pirates, dammit.
These are virtually non-existent see, them missions, once i get one... I cannot but take it. :(

Hopped into Solo to do it, so some griefer 9no matter how small the chance) won't get me right now.

Do befriend Ancalagon the Black (tha are I).
And again, I am not a pirate even though i sound as one. XD

I'm neither dedicated nor full time miner - but I do go out mining a couple of times a week. In my mining Anaconda. Two A5 Collector Limpets Controllers and four mining lasers make pretty short work of any rock floating about :)

Usually when I'm not exploring in my Asp I'm mining in my Clipper. Since the drone changes I actually love mining a lot now, and the missions really make it pay decently too.

I don't know... Don't take this personally. What I say is what my reaction would be, whoever it is.

I have clinically diagnosed paranoia. It is bad. Really bad. This is why I play in Mobius. It's just more comfortable, and I still get to say hi to people.

Right now I think I'll stick to playing in Mobius. I'm not ready for open yet. Sorry.

I would say that mining is my main profession. The boring part of it that it have no other use than sell ore on the npc market for cash. I wonder how long it will take for FD to finally include more uses, like a proper immense crafting system, not just building weapons and modules, but for "housing" type of activities, which it really could need. There's a whole galaxy for us to colonize.

That would be great. If we could transfer the material between ships too... Would make for a real reason to own a fleet.

Yup Full time miner here. With occasional other activities including planetary landings, some fighting in Res Sites etc.
Went from mining Hauler to mining Cobra to mining Asp and sat there for ages until the drones came out. That quickly motivated me to work towards my mining Python. Very happy. Take out 80 drones and return within the hour with 128 tons of the top 5 ores (Pain, Plat, Pall, etc) oh and always some Osmium for missions (they pay well but seem rare since horizons).
Love mining. It's a Zen thing.
I do also prefer the scanning method on the SRV. Where so many other want the game to move to Push one button and reveal all. I want the opposite. More investigative scanning. Reveal clues to something just on the horizon... what is that? :)

Although I'm not exclusively doing it, I consider myself a Miner.

I operate several Medium and Heavy Mining Rigs and participated in several Mining CGs in the past (including the very first and infamous "Abres' Mineral Misery" Mining CG).

I mainly use the proceeds to continue building Influence for the Faction I support throughout several Systems.
Other than that, I'm basically waiting for remote Planetary exploration, prospecting, asset deployment and exploitation all to fall into place (sadly a very intuitive purpose for Planetary landings that didn't make it into Horizons yet).

I can easily envision myself Exploring procedural but persistent-per-Planet Mineral heatmaps using Muon Scanners (they do exist as a Commodity after all) and setup fields of Automated Mining Rigs.
Wouldn't mind a heavier deployable Mining Vehicle for ground prospecting and -exploitation either.

And since it's a dedicated honest profession, I still kinda hope one day we'll get a dedicated Pilots Federation Rank for it.

PS.
Although mostly a solitary activity, I did make several Wing Mining Trials. Turns out group prospecting with a Wing buddy does pay off quite nicely.
