I am entirely lost in what to do.

I want to help my power by being a combat pilot. I would also like to be able to earn a decent amount of PP points from doing so. Having to fly to Federation space (I am pledged to Arissa Lavigny-Duval) and wait for an hour for one or two ships to interdict and get 15 is not effective. The expansion actions only giving one per ship is also ludicrous. It feels again like anyone who does not want to trade will not get to progress in Power Play. Don't give me the whole "Power Play is for people who have reached the end game" or whatever the excuse is here. I can't reach the end game because being a "bounty hunter" pays so poorly. I could take assassination missions and sit in super cruise for an hour until I find a USS and hope that my target is there. It seems any combat oriented way of spending time in this game involves sitting and waiting. If you want to hunt bounties, go and sit at a nav beacon or RES. If you want to assassinate people, go and sit in super cruise until a random event gives them to you. If you want to pirate, sit in super cruise until a trader comes by (probably the only one that sitting and waiting makes sense). I am just completely at a loss here. I still love the game but just feel that nothing has changed from release unless if you want to do combat.

I am sure plenty of people will call you names and say you don't understand and you should go find another game.. but I am not one of them. I am disillusioned also in the current direction of the game. If it were not for community goals (far and few between) I would not play at all these days.

I am hoping that the Dev team can come to a better understanding of what the PC (and that sure does not stand for politically correct) community wants in a space sim. If not then there are other games to be played an in a year there will be another great space sim to be played. but they already have your money so it may not matter to them, hope I am wrong.

If you go into an enemy control system, there are targets galore, you dont usually have to wait for more than a minute before you can interdict one, i find I've usually blown them away before my FSD cooldown is complete.

once in an enemy controlled system, you can attack power specific ships from ANY enemy power to receive your 15 merits per ship.
currently I sit in 34 Pegasi (im aligned with Aisling) which is one of Archon Delaines control systems, once there I can interdict his Kumo Crew ships or ANY other powers ships (torvals shields, federal agents etc), I can even sit there, let them interdict me, kill them and still get 15 merits, normally im making 300-400 merits per hour doing this.

People are paying 150 000 for 15 merits, and you complain about combat reward. Each ship you kill other people spend 150 000 credits to counter your undermine.

Just went away from Hudson and I am now factionless. I did this because he simply does not offer .. well .. ANYTHING I need. As a federal mercanary I am not interested that much in loyality or how good Hudson is standing, in fact, after his failure to hold rank 2 and fell down to rank 3 (equal to winters with an even 68%) I lost hope in the republican and refused to further 'work' (which I never really did 'cause the pay .. which pay?) for him. I am not sitting near sol accepting missions that are worth my time and give me more cr/h than bounty hunting in my courier or Diamondback.

PP is 100% roleplay and 0% progress. In fact it is -10% progress/week.

For assassination you need to interdict them. Jumping from USS to USS is far too slow. Also you will gain more money while you rank up in the system-fractions by getting better/more missions. 300k for the mission and additional 300k bounty for the target are really nice.

And I cant understand your problem with gaining merits. Went farming last night, every 1-3min an interdiction (sometimes a guy in a wing), got 510 in about less than 2 hours.

The way I am interpreting what you are saying correctly, I can interdict ships besides say Fed AID in Winter's systems and still get merits? If so I might have to try again.

yes, if you are say with an empire power and you go to a fed control system, you can kill ships from any fed power, any independent power and alliance, all for 15 merits each, and since it will be a fed system, then any independent or alliance ships there are already on the attack, so they can/will interdict you too, meaning less damage from interdictions as you can just submit and kill.
