Its a "OMG I lost everything post due to a bug x" post waiting to happen
There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are very few old bold pilots! Watch out for the odd bold kamikaze AI pilots whilst docking....
That docking computer will kill you eventually.
It already did earlier. So I figured statistics is on my side now. How likely is it that it will happen again?

Pretty likely - I think the Docking Computer currently tops the kills chart.
Strongly recomment you to get some clue about this.
In solo mode the DC is solid as a rock (my experience). I use one about 20-30% of the time depending on if I'm going to be docking a lot. I have never had one crash me. Literally ... never in 100s of landings ... knocking on wood. It will land certain ships rough, like my T6 (bangs kind of hard sometimes). But the Cobra lands sweet and soft. I get up and go AFK all the time to take care of RL; always come back and I'm sitting on the landing pad.

NOW, I would not use one in Open at all. I don't think its smart enough to avoid human pilots driving crazy. I also avoid using it at Outposts ... Its much quicker to land on Outposts manually. Plus, sometimes the DC hangs up at outposts.

Not only can I afford to completely fill my cargo hold again, I can also afford the insurance while it's filled:
And it was indeed a fun experience, but I can tell you I don't plan on repeating it soon.
