I am impressed!

I will admit, I was expecting DD to be overflowing with salt by now, players complaining about all the various aspects of the update, not happy with anything. Yet so far the main complaints have been on the new colour schemes and the expected server problems that seems to always crop up for the first few hours after a major update.

All this can mean to me at least is that the majority of players are happy with the update as I think they should be, FD put a lot of work into it for a free upgrade. So a big well done to FD, I have yet to see an update of this size being so universally accepted by the Community, especially a free upgrade that provided much more than I was expecting.

I managed to get on latelast night (GMT) for a few minutes and did a bit of Haz Res work just to check functionality.

All good, great new lighting etc.

Today's play will be sorting my bindings - ughh I hate that! I hope some smart cookie will have put a guide out by then :D

Bindings initially worried/scared me as well in Beta, but I ended up spending about 15 minutes originally (FD were kind enough to highlight the new bindings required - thank you for that) then probably another couple of minutes of jumping back into options to fine tune things - after that it was fine.

I know a lot of players are complaining (well they did in Beta) about the bindings and how they can't find any more spare buttons or whatever so I am kind of curious to see how they will go if Space Legs ever drops because that will probably require a whole lot more than we needed for 3.3 :D

It's a definite bonus having them highlighted but like you said, I've got lots of buttons for this but actually making a sensible layout of them is the real issue for me.

Becouse this time FDev overdid it. It's not even rage or upset anymore, u just lost hope in they competence and capabilitys and do not care anymore about Elite.

Surprisingly (for me at least), I ended up binding my mouse for the FSS functions, I find it way more easier to navigate around the new screen with the mouse as opposed to my HOTAS, left mouse buttons zooms in, right zooms out, mouse wheel scrolls the frequency. Luckily my mouse has additional buttons so one of those does the Zoom Step In bit and the other will target the body I have zoomed in at. Once I worked out that, it improved the useability of the FSS for me by 5 fold.

Logged on last night got kicked several times but did managed to pay my 10 mil and setup my groups squadron.

Did notice a lot of the new objects and locations from the beta in my home system weren't there anymore but I guess thats an BGS related thing anyway.

Codex had some thargoid related stuff in it already and it was cool to see squadrons populate.

I definitely haven't lost hope in FD, if anything it reinforced my admiration for the company.

Played the beta for a few days all was good, have not played since release and I won't until the server issue thing goes away.

No worries [yesnod]

I won't know until I'm able to log in.

Though tbh with the thought that all the bubbles "first mapped" tags were got last night by the favoured few, I'm no longer certain that I want to log in today. I'm sure I'll get round to it eventually, but as someone who is primarily an explorer, it seems all my time and effort has been claimed by others.

There's just no hurry now. More than 12 hours since the game "came up" before I can log in to check... pointless.
I'd be demanding a refund on this update if it wasn't free!

That's a great tip. I'm in VR but mouse use is easy for me in my setup, although at the moment I only have a 3 button mouse... time for new toys!

Tell though coz I never figured this out: what the difference between that FSS zoom step stuff and zooming in/out. I don't think I ever figured that in beta???

glad to help :D

The only use I have found for the stepped zoom is when you have several bodies very close together. If you zoom normally you will go straight to the major body but sometimes you can step zoom in which gives you enough of image to differentiate between the different bodies. For some reason it doesn't work all the time (I blame user error - ME) but it has proved useful a few times. Anyway I had one spare button and had to assign something to it :D

It's amazing... all my beta settings seamlessly overtaken. Runs pretty stable already, didn't expect it so soon after the first 2 or 3 hours where no one could connect.

Yep I must admit, although I did have two copies of my bindings from Beta (one on the PC and one on a USB stick - old habits die hard), I nearly did the good ol` happy dance when I logged in and found my bindings all there and ready to go.

Opinion tba.

Yesterday I was unable to access ED. I got server problems strike, main menu was the farthest I got. We'll see to day.

Oh, and about lack of serious complaints - people are busy with playing or attempting to play. Also, many participated in beta so they know the stuff and live is no surprise.

Excuse me but of course my OP was my opinion, whose else's would it be. Just the same as your post was your opinion. That is what happens in a forum so I fail to see what it seems to be a surprise for you

A lot of players couldn't get to properly play the game yesterday - I'd hold off on that opinion until tonight/tomorrow and majority of players can get to play ;)

Who are these "favoured few", and in what way are they favoured?
