I am now officially part of the Asp club!

Too slow and expensive to resupply IMHO, but good against big targets...depends what your aim is really

I prefer 2 x D2 beam lasers on top

How much does ammo cost for it?
What's the fire rate and how much damage does it do to NPC pythons and anacondas?

Try them out, you can always sell them without a loss...don't remember what the ammo costs, not cheap, especially when you miss your target....

Do a compare in outfitting to see damage and fire rates etc

I prefer gimballed weapons cause I'm a poor aim and even worse in an Asp compared to my Viper

I don't really want to start shooting anacondas in the middle of my rare-trading trip. Would be another matter if cargo could be stored in stations. I'm quite satisfied with my 2x E1/G Beams And four gimballed multicannons setup so far.

So, I tested some class 2 weapons:

Plasma accelerator: absolutely useless, projectile is super slow, damage is subpar. 400 cr per shot. It's extremely hard to hit even anacondas with this thing.

Railgun: actually decent. Delay is not a big problem - since it's hitscan, you only need to stay on target, which is not hard when the target is big. Very good for sniping and deals good amount of damage, but unfortunately, 30 ammo limit prevents it from being viable for bounty hunting.

Gimballed cannon: Feels pretty much like plasma accelerator, but with auto-aim. Projectile speed feels same. Almost unusable against smaller ships, requires to be very close to hit even big targets. Ammo is cheap and 100 rounds actually last fairly long (not as long as multicannons). In my opinion, don't do enough damage to big targets to be worth using over multicannions

Overall, I've found nothing worth swapping multicannons for, which is kinda sad.

Just joined the Asp Club.

I like the ship so far, won't be able to upgrade it until I get more credits.

There is one thing though - I don't like its engine sound one bit - I know most of you will probably love it, but in my opinion the engine noise is totally inappropriate for a spaceship. Compare the Cobra and below engine sounds.

Now don't get me wrong, I like the sound of the Merlin engine - when it's on the appropriate aeroplane - but using that as the sound for the Asp is just kind of wrong :)
