I am online, can launch the ED launcher, once ingame social is greyed out - cannot play - what gives?

I am connected via 4g with my PC on the mobile phone at the moment through USB tethering since regular internet is having issues. I
I am online (obviously I can post this message using my pc), access Arx, surf the internet, read my mail, have steam show online status... the whole nine yards.

unfortunately, the ED launcher does not seem to agree and does not connect to the servers, nor does it acknowledge my online connection. It launches correctly but then when ingame here is the screen I see.

Has anyone else experienced this, and what can be done about it?

Normaly means your connection has timed out to the instance server.

Choices are
Reboot router to clear out ports that are blocked
Reboot PC to clear out PC fire wall ports that are blocked..

look on twitch/ you tube to confirm that every body has been booted ofline and its not just you...

Do nothing and the trace route you connect over servers jumps to amazon AWS hosting just reset them selves as the cheap providers that connect your ISP to Ireland AWS are having a crap day and will reset them selves in time...

@Korben Dallas Have you double checked the in-game options under network and make sure it didn't change from your wifi there? Each time it has done an update, mine keeps changing and I have to go in and switch it back.

If you do need to change it, you will have to close out the game and relaunch for it to take effect.

Razar.

For me it always just take a while until the SOCIAL is active. Its a different server, so it take some time to make this additional connection.

"What's happening....can't connect to Frontier's servers"

Disable firewall and AV temporarily to test, check for ports on router, if your PC is the only one playing then use port forwarding and see what happens. Check using a different connection, if connecting via home internet try hanging your PC off the phone and start the launcher and see if it connects. Let us know how you go after that.

Okay thank you Razar - in the options menu under 'network'....

In the connections my ethernet was activated and set up for ED, so you can wifi all you want you ain't gettin in.

Switched to wifi, and now everything loads as it should.
