I am really struggling...

If we are talking bout griefing player pilots ... I don´t think this will be such a huge problem.
Space (especially now that the Beta pill is gone) is really really really insanely big.

It is rather easy to evade griefers.

If we talk about NPC pirates ... well, no matter whether against NPCs or PCs, if you learn how to succesfully evade interdictions pirates lose much of their fear potential.
It is possible to evade 90-95% of all interdictions if you have mastered your ships controls enough to follow the escape vector.
(at least if you want to evade them and don´t intend to get caught in their interdiction, to give those pesky pirates a very very bad surprise ;) )

I don't fear NPC's, I can deal with them...... I fear the prepubescent hate filled nerd who in order to give some meaning to his bullied existence, makes the weaker gamer pay, because someone has to pay :)

Thanks Commanders. I seem to do more reading and watching youtube than playing. But like all the great games you can't start off being a winner! I know I'll have the jump on all those coming in when we go live in December. Just Ordered a headset today (Corsair Vengance 2100) so I can enjoy voice attack. Thinking about blowing some cash on a TrackIR and I am in the hunt for an X52 as well. I think when I have the tools to do the job my life may become easier. Of course I can have all the kit in the world and if I don't know how to use it then I am no further forward. So now, more reading, more playing, more watching youtube and more slow grinding learning and the relentless build up of experience.

It's a long road and I am only at the beginning. But I have taken my first steps and I have nice shoes...

When you get interdicted do this WHILE you're being dropped to einsteinian:
1. Put engines in reverse.
2. Ready hard points.

Doing this will put you on the pirate's six with your weapons hot. You can figure out the rest. ^^

To the Op. I understand your pain, mine came earlier in the year.

My simple advise would be to go to the tutorials and do at least the early ones multiple times so you are comfortable with the controls. They do introduce the basics albeit not as clearly as might be ideal.
