I appear to have exploded without warning inside Abraham Lincoln station

I have been landing for more than 3 months without problems.

Today, I was doing a routine landing with my Asp at abraham lincoln station when I exploded.

(w) Suddenly.

(t) No warning.

(f) No attacks.

I just hindenburged over the landing pad.

Last I checked, shields where up. I have not hit the "silent running" button, and even then a big warning would have appeared.

Is there a way to check what happened? A black box of some sort?

I just lost 600k in insurance and I am terrified to fly again in case some kind of bug would make me explode again with no reason.

Out of interest. Do you normally put your gear down over the pad or outisde the station? Some seem to think it is happening when the landing gear is lowered.

Unfortunately there is no such thing yet, but i really hope there will be - even if it only shows the last hit that lead to your destruction, it would be a great help indeed. Regarding that landing theory - dunno, would need to know more. From time short before entering the station to the point where he 'sploded.

But what others already mentioned and what seems quite strange - at least large ships (and my T7 back then was the first one where i noticed it), lock down to the pad at an extremely high altitude. Take the clipper for instance, everyone who has seen it once in the outfitting screen knows what kind of a stubby landing gear it has. But hands down, at times when my gear gets locked to the pad, i most certainly could see right into the eyes of the controler inside that tower in front of the pad. And in case i remember the numbers of my position towards the pad right, that happened while i was at a good 20 meters hovering above the pad.

It depends, usually I deploy the landing gear just outside the slot. What also happens is that I can forget about the landing gear only to be reminded by the ships computer (warning, landing gear not deployed ! ! !)

This time there was no warning from the ship, so I guess I deployed the landing gear before arriving at the pad.

I have found that other people had similar problems before and maybe it is a bug, but it has been allegedly corrected...

I submitted a ticket nonetheless. Just in case...

You have been "bumbed" is my guess. But anyway, send NetLogs to FD´s ticket system with description.

This exact same thing happened to me a few days ago, in my T6. I appeared out of hyperspace a good ways in front of a station then got my pad #, proceeded to boost towards the station then lowered gear..instant death. Lost 50t of cargo. No other ships where near me. I logged a ticket but it was removed lol guess they thought I was bullcrapping them.

2 months after the release and CMDR's ships are still exploding for no reason at all. I can't think of more devestating bug than this. At this point I'm convinced that FD's incapable of fixing the major bugs in the game. What is the incentive to continue playing know your ship can explode for no reason at all? Anyone?

Sorry for your loss dude.

Terrorist from competing factions leaving IUDs on the pad? I blew up lioke that once in my cobra. I did have a full load of hydrogen though. I have no idea why my ship went boom. On several occasions, my landing gear has been stuck in the pad mechanism making it difficult for me to leave.

NEVER boost then landing gear. That is very likely to destroy your ship. Probably some anti-cheat code that causes your explosion when your current speed (your boost speed) exceeds your maximum speed (cut in half by landing gear) by a certain amount. Boost + gear will destroy you a lot of the time.

I haven't lost a ship to the landing gear issues, but I always throttle below half and wait until I'm actually at that speed before deploying gear.

Still awaiting the report from the Spatial Transportation Safety Board.

Usually, when I die because I boosted in the station (I do that on exit, but only with smaller cheap ships) I don't mind.
If I am idiot enough to lose a ship like that, I pay. Things happens etc. Just become wiser etc... :)

I would like to take the opportunity to point out that when the landing gears are deployed you can't boost... so I don't understand how exactly you can boost with landing gear deployed and explode...

As for the network log (is that the netlog?) where is it in the ED directory? Is there one when you play solo? Since I have not played since the crash, it should be pristine...

I would like to add this piece to my ticket...

You.... hindenburged? That'd point at an electrostatic discharge as the the culprit. You weren't incidently hauling hydrogen, were you?
Also I'd check behind me for a NPC named 'John W Booth' or alike.

Seeing that the most common fuel that could be scooped from a star is hydrogen, I would not exclude the possibility of Mr Booth sneeking on my hydrogen tank to set my Asppelin on fire...

This is why I'm staying >1000LY from Sol until these bugs are fixed. It's truly staggering that bugs like this are still active, two months post-launch.

@vjek : does it means it is location specific?

@all : as a side note, the link to my ticket appears to lead into the great 503 void. I can't check the progress to my ticket. Does it means it has been closed? Swept under the rug?
