someone from the frontier already tried to connect a dualshock 4 and play on the pc? the galaxy map has all the controls inverted, when I put it to go forward it goes backwards when I want to move the cursor to the right it goes to the left, there is no shortcut for hyperdrive on the control I have to use the keyboard? it took me 30 minutes reconfiguring for my brother to play on epic and when i went to play on steam my game was with the controls i set in his game ... regrettable. developers need to redo these controls and the way to save the custom profiles, if they post a survey with new players I bet 1 dollar that more than 90% will say that they no longer play because of the controls.
I bet 1 dollar that more than 90% of the new players give up playing because of the controls.

Edit: This is actually a great application for Bitcoin - when you find you've lost you can just post up the $1 in BTC and whoever claims it first will be able to cash it in

And it's their fault that you used the same windows profile for 2 different people to play?
Your brother should have his own user profile on that system.
Then that would mean a different profile for ED. And no controls mixing
Not sure what's wrong with using a Dualshock 4 - or what you did wrong - but i'm pretty sure an xbox controller can be setup to behave exactly as it does on an actual XBox.
And the controls bind scheme for XB is almost perfect on the defaults (i assume it's the same for PS4 controllers too)
It took me a month to set up the first time controls in September 2014
it took me a couple of weeks to get the SRV to work with a controller
I’m still working on the bindings for odyssey and I’m still here after seven years
I use game controller a flight stick and the keyboard and the mouse.

Aside from the ridiculous in any game made after 2001 32 key limit, my only issues with the control setup in ED is the lack of a hold key feature for use with toggle switches on HOTAS, and my inability to get my Xbox controller setup reliably for use with the SRV while having the HOTAS for the rest of the game. You can get it to work, but you will regularly lose your binds. Regularly as in every other time you play. Especially if you are dumb and use a wireless controller that shuts itself off after a few minutes of disuse.
Sort of. I quit elite after 5 hours after getting annoyed at constantly rebinding my keys. Came back later and haven't quit again!
Its a major game with lots of keyboard and controller binds. Its an investment to play for years not farmville, if you put the work in, you enjoy it or quit and go back to playing arcade games. Most modern high quality games have a lot of binds is its a choice to buy and make the effort to learn and configure it to your liking or not.
The first test is patience keybindings and if you don't pass that you can't grind
i dunno, 1 dollar, that's some serious conviction right there.
I had the same problem with mouse and keyboard ship control method here - I had to spend A LOT of time to get used to it and fixed weapon aiming with this puts serious strain on my wrist not to mention rail guns hit rate with this is ~10% for me...
As mentioned above if You like the game You will get through it
P.S. I generally dislike a lot the way UI works and that I have to tab constantly after pressing 1234 to get to whatever option I need and I would like to have hotkey for it instead but I'm still playing game. Maybe in time when enough players put a rant on it (probably PC owners) we will have update that will solve it
