I can be such a dumb Commander at times ...

There I was, late at night, contemplating one final mission before shutting down and heading to bed. Decided a nice easy trade run is on the cards, retrieved the appropriate ship and switched to EDDB to scope out the best options. settled on a load of 88T whatever to a station two jumps away. Into the commodities screen, loaded the goodies and off I went. Easy run, no interdictions, docked and went to sell the cargo - yet no cargo. Seems I forgot to hit the commit button on the Commodities screen. Facepalm 1

Feeling slight stupid, filled up the hold with silver for the return jaunt, making sure I clicked the right button this time and headed out of the station. The intermediately jump was to an Anarchy system, no big deal, never been interdicted passing through there before. Oh look my befuddled brain says, a USS, and I still need a few specialised mats for the Engineers, I will just drop in - totally forgetting I am in my trade ship and not one of my fighters. Yep, as soon as I exited SC got jumped by an Anaconda and two Vipers, lasted all of 5 seconds before the big band. Facepalm 2

See the rebuy screen, buy the ship back and for some unfathomable reason decide to do my little side mission correctly before signing off for the night. Buy the cargo, set the route, hit launch. Bedlam ensures, the throttle on my HOTAS was still set on full power, as soon as the docking clamps released I shot forward, hit the building in front of me, bounced up and nearly took out a Dolphin. Shields gone, hull down to 50%, tail between my legs I managed to exit the station, jump into SC, reverse and come back and land without further mayhem.

Shut the game down for the night then, I couldn't afford anymore brain farts like that lol

See, we've all had moments where we screw up and lose money. However, the most embarrassing times are when you just look silly, but no real harm is done.

I used to fly my type 6 and keelback through the mail slot sideways, back in the day, becuase I'd be too lazy to turn to go through properly, and the ships do fit, but you can end up jammed if your not careful. Easy to get out off, but very embarrassing. Needless to say, I always fly through the mail slot properly nowadays.

Haven’t had quite that succession of events, but do recall clearly a number of nights trading forgetting exactly where I was in the trading cycle and landing to find myself either with no cargo at all or making a loss. Sigh....

I'm surprised you could sleep after the adrenaline rush from all that. LOL

I've had more than one of those 'oh ^&%#!!' moments when I forgot about the throttle, or in a couple of cases where I forgot I was in reverse before I firewalled the throttle in the station.

Just one final mission before bed... yes. Go on! Just one more mission... :D

To be fair I often have excitement when I fire up the game, lift off from a planet and forget I've not started the virtual joystick programme... throttles work fine though, just not the stick -_-

I have gone mining, got to the ring, dropped down, and went to fire off a prospector limpet and realised I wasn't even in my mining ship. Quick look around to make sure nobody had seen me and went back to get the right ship.

You know that you just have to be outside the station to request docking again?

My most feared thing in ED is the "just this one last trip/mission and then I dock" thought. It usually results in not so nice things.

That reminds my of that poor Corvette CMDR.
CMDR in Corvette undocked about the same time than me in my DBS. Corvette in front of me, I wait until Corvette passes through the slot. Corvette scratches the shields on the exit corridor.

In a moment of "funny" I send coms to the CMDR: "I've seen that ;)"

Oh, that CMDR didn't think it was funny, but it was funny.

Funny as hell. Every time I scratch my shields while entering or exiting a station I wonder if somebody has seen it and would comment on it.

Sorry to hear about messing up 3 times OP.

I bought a T9 yesterday bought top grade mods for all of it powerplant, shields, to do some mining.
got it over to the system to do mining. then realised that I forgot that I hate the bldy ship.
The Type-9 has 2 BIG flashing lights on the dashboard in front of you all the time. when you release collector limpets or are close to an asteroid in space.

I also after that this morning did a mission to disable the powergrid on a planet. in my ASPX. thought I would take out the defences first.
I lasted 3 seconds after using my lasers on them.
