Newcomer / Intro I can only play solo mode?

Hello everyone, i am new to this game, been getting used to the controls and stuff. I have now pressed "START" and clicked on "OPEN PLAY", but when i press "ESC" it says: CURRENT GAME MODE: SOLO. If i do the same, but click on "SOLO" it says exactly the same. How can i fix this? I do have an internet connection. Am i actually online, when it tells me gamemode: solo? Another question.. when playing in solo mode, what you earn / loose is what you will have when playing in online mode?

Yes, I had the same thing last night while I had definitely selected open play. However, when I press escape again a while later, it was back to open play.

Thanks for answering, i pressed ESC and checked just now, and it says OPEN PLAY just now, so i am good. Thanks again.

I'm not certain about this but the game mode readout in the esc menu is probably based on if there's anyone else in your instance. So even if you chose open play but you're alone it'll tell you it's Solo till someone else joins you.

From what I saw it's only in solo after you login and are docked, I guess it's because if you enter in open while docked there's a chance of other playing being in the same dock you appeared on.
