I can't believe it has happened again

43k out, lots of scans, several ELWs, all going well ...
Foolishly decided to supercharge FSD at White Dwarf (been caught before - but feeling relaxed - no drink had been taken!).
Aimed well away from centre, well out at fringe - it still got me. Crashed out of SC and from that point I could do nothing.
Whatever I did my Asp slowly died ...
Hard to take atm [blah]

Condolences; I lost an Anaconda to one of those bad boys. Almost lost an Asp too, but that was partially caused by a bug/crash/reset when jumping out of the system so FD invoked the Hand Of God on that one.

It would be nice if the route filter could be flagged separately for White Dwarfs and Neutron Stars. I like the latter, as it's pretty difficult to foul up so bad as to hit the exclusion limit. But the White Dwarfs are gits. Still, I guess we need some excitement as a break from the jump-honk-jump.

My commiserations to you: I lost my Type 6E which I nursed to Beagle Point with the DWE and then on to Colonia to one just after I arrived at Colonia. I really cherished that old Lakon and all her dents and zings. Heartbreaking . . .

White Dwarfs are by far the most cruel, murderous siblings of Neutron Stars. I steer clear of them, after having a similar mishap (shortly after selling my data, so no real loss, thankfully).

You can. Black holes and neutrons are grouped together, but WDs can be turned off, if you're using the star class filter.

Sorry to hear that. If you've spent a lot of time out exploring, then we've all probably been there and done that. I sometimes find myself dancing with death after long trips. Maybe part hoping for a quick return home but then realise how much data I'd waste.
It's dark out there in more ways than one.

Thanks all for the condolences :)
Drink already taken !
No triple - I am clearly a slow learner, but I have the message now!
I do normally filter them out, or simply synthesise a boost if the route is using FSDF boosts - just got complacent.
"... It's dark out there in more ways than one..." - yep; I recall a similar comment after my first debacle.
I flagged all my ELWs, so it will be a quick turn-around at Shinrata Dezhra ;)

Glad you took precautions to give us a positive outcome ;)

White Dwarfs are deadly ..... I tune them out in the Gal Map to avoid them at all times. I don't know why they are so much more deadly than neutron stars or black holes .... something needs adjusting in the game I think.

I thought the FSD Boost option overrode the map filters but if not I'll give that a go. I've no reason to be going anywhere near White Dwarfs. They're not even worth much. Still going to be watching that Info panel like a hawk though, just in case. And throttling back if there's even a hint of white at the end of the hyperspace tunnel.

(I've come close to disaster a couple of times when I've noticed a WD or NS destination in the Info panel, throttled back, then drifted off to sleep before getting to the exit point. Only the sound of the drop has jarred me awake. I really ought not to play this game when tired. One day I am going to wake up to the rebuy screen).

That sucks. I just don't neutron boost because the process is so iffy. I tried to practice a few times at Jackson's Lighthouse and failed every single time. After that, nope.

Neutron boosting is pretty easy, did it hundreds of times with minor problems maybe twice - too much time spent in the cone ate 8-10% of my FSD instead of usual 0-1%. But WD boosting is a russian roulette. I definitely prefer to use jumponium mats instead if increased jump range is necessary. But I'm not excluding WDs from my route planner. I like how do they look like, their dispersed light, beautiful at the first sight, deadly at second.

When I read that, I realize how foolish I am to still boost on WD, although I already lost a conda to one - luckily inside the bubble, but now I'm 25 kly out! Will stop now, promise. Thanks for reminding me the danger.

Unfortunately, when plotting a route, one can only choose Jet cone boosts, without excluding WD. Will have to sort this out manually...

WD are useless as far as jumping goes. The gains are too small to accept the risk and you can jump twice faster than overcharging FSD. I'd take any other option sooner, even landing and gathering mats for jumponium. WD is a last resort, if nothing else is available.

BaldEagle, sorry to hear about this. You were far indeed.
