I can't believe the occupied docking pad bug still exists...

What am I talking about?! Yes I can.

I just went to an engineer base, requested docking, and guess what I came up against? A ship already on my pad.

Why does this bug still exist?! It's been years, hasn't it?

I experienced this last week, for the first time in years. Back in 2015 this was more common and expected it to be resolved by now :)

After receiving docking permission for pad 9, I noticed an Orca sleeping on the pad. Exited, canceled my request and resubmitted. Again pad 9 and again occupied. Again did the exit and request, this time I was assigned another pad that was empty. Pad 9 remained occupied during my stay at the station. It's a rare bug luckily. If I think about it, I should have posted a bug report, but I was glad to have landed at all :)

Sometimes, when I switch back to open after I land, I end up merged with another ship like a kitbash. My personal favorite was the federal dropcobra.

I still see it occasionally. When it happens i want to kick someone or something. Its been years..

For those that never see it, try to visit a station with a CG or Jameson Memorial in open, where are many cmdrs gathered. And no i am not switching to solo or PG to fix it.

Seen that bug twice in 4 years (NPC refusing to launch). Had a T6 upside down on a pad two days ago, desperately needed fuel, was in a wing so didn't want to switch modes, luckily another port was nearby.

Loitering is punishable by death, unless at an outpost..

I can say that about a lot of bugs, one in particular which really ruins the game for me (yet I keep playing anyway). What I find fascinating is that with every major update, Frontier claims it has fixed thousands of bugs. I can think of a couple dozen bugs I've experienced, so it amazes me there were thousands of bugs to fix, and yet none of those were my bugs....

It is such a rare bug (I have only had it about twice in four year) that it must be virtually impossible to track down. If they can't replicate it, then it won't be fixed.

Yes, this bug still appears in more crowded stations. This bug is especially infuriating, when in a clunky handling, big ship.

The very same, Requested docking at *looks on Inara* Kuk, Prospectors rest. Permission given on Pad 2, it's occupied, cancels request, requests again, pad 2. Exit to main menu and go to Solo.

Not seen it in ages, but it used to be very common in the big stations. The only times I have heard of it recently have been at engineers bases.

There have been bugs that have shown up on the game servers we play on but didn't happen on FDevs development systems due to the extra code tools on those, which makes finding the actual cause much harder than just spotting the symptoms.

Ah, so it was this? happened to me 2 days ago. Went to Deciat (private grp - Moebius) and "request denied". Been 4km away from pard so didn't see good but they looked empty. Wondered how many CMDRs out there is doing modifications. After 4th "request denied" I switched modes to solo, got landing clearance first try. haven't spent second thought about it.

So I faced a bug then? Good to know.

No the bug is when they grant landing permission while there is still a ship parked on your pad so you can't use it despite having permission.

What you had was an annoyingly high traffic period some of which will be NPCs and some will be player commanders.

Something tells me my insistence on flying small pad only is why I've never personally encoumtered this bug.

I know it happens though. Yes it needs fixing.

I have only small pad ships, too. I got this 6 times in two play sessions.

The last time the only way I fixed it was to log back into solo. Not sure if it was really what fixed it or just luck, because the ships blocking the pads are always NPCs, ofcourse.
