Hardware & Technical I Can't Describe How Angry I Feel.....

Or can I?

After securing one of my fathers better computers to play this after my other one has been sent to the shop to get it's disappearing hard-drive seen to and replaced. (It's been a week now!)

I think I did have the game running for few days before it just wouldn't run at all yesterday morning.

Well...it does run a little bit and very slowly.

It would take about 2 to 3 minutes for the twin title logos to appear as the game loads and when they do appear.

It's like the screen stutters as the images would move into focus like they normally do and then move back and then forward. Sort of like the game doesn't know which direction to go in. Should it go to the menu screen or just crash to my desktop.

When the menu screen slowly appears, it pops into existence onto my screen, panel by panel, exploding from multiple hues of colour to the final shade of grey.

When I click on the correct sequence of options to get me into my online game. The buttons almost freeze turning white as they slowly carry out my prompts.

Then the cockpit of my ship under the canopy framing the familiar field of stars around a floating space-station just as slowly as what came before it.

But it's frozen like a screen shot and won't move at all.

I couldn't even go back to the previous menu to get out of the game, and had to Control/Alt/Delete to get that done.

Now, I tried reinstalling the Nvidia-Drivers and other software related to that after previously removing that stuff to make more room for the game videos I wanted to record.

I'm not sure how important those drivers were or if this computer even needs them.

BUT , uit still won't run this game any faster.

It also won't play any of the other high-end graphics games I that I have on Steam.

It will play the retro games okay.

I think it's the graphics car. It may be damaged or something has gone missing.

I've had more than a gut full of this with all the numerous problems, surrounding my continued involvement with this game so far.

I've already sent the computer into be fixed on three occasions prior to this earlier this year.

It all seems to be related to this game.

I just hope the problem with this computer isn't damaged hardware.

As I said it's not even mine.

I could go on about how all these problems are just conspiring to keep from playing, but I don't sound too crazy.

Though, I am mad.

I'm not yet crazy mad.

I just want back in......for sake of the amount of money or the small part of the large amount of money I payed to be part of this.

[Redacted]

Yeah, we all say stuff that rubs people the wrong way, what really matters is the money I payed as well as the commitment and sacrifices I made to part with that amount of cash already.

I don't get it, you're ranting in the Beta forum because your machine can't play ED or any other Steam games unless they have very low graphics requirements?

Errrrm, get a better machine. That's about all you can do.

The ranting meantime, is pointless.

Doubt it. But you've already admitted you don't know if the machine you're using even needs Nvidia drivers, and that you've sent it into a shop to get a hard disk sorted, so I would suggest your level of knowledge around computers could do with a little improvement. You can't really blame ED for you not knowing which drivers you need.

Sounds like your father's computer is either incredibly weak, or it has been afflicted with a myriad of malware.

While you render us the computer's specifications, get Anti-Malware and do a scan

Not sure you want to vent you have a terrible computer here. It is not only ED that you cant play, so check out your system specs and fix it.

I think you are completed justified in your anger at both the game and your father's ridiculously poor gaming setup.

It is every teenager?'s right to have everything on demand at the time that they demand it.

FD you should be ashamed at yourselves. Commander Mick here deserves respect; it's his human right!

Micky boy. March up to your Father right now and ask, nay DEMAND that he sort out his pathetic setup this instant.

That will get you results and hopefully you will enhance your gaming skills by playing while standing up in future.

Those drivers were vitally important. They are the interface between Windows and the graphics card. Without them, or with the wrong ones, Windows cannot use the graphics card effectively. It's actually a testament to Microsoft that it's able to draw a picture at all.

Given that you removed them without knowing the harm you were doing, I am not at all confident that you reinstalled the correct ones later.

You have no right to be mad at Elite. This was your own fault.

But that's ok! We all start at zero. None of us were born knowing this stuff.
As everyone else said, we'll need to know more about the computer before we can point you in the right direction.

Hmm,

I think the OP is being sarcastic and posting this as a parody of the many complaint posts that could have going to the first impression tread stuck near the top of this tread section?

I didn't read the whole thing as it was a complaint about a computer, so what do I know.

I thought this was Co-op and we were doing roll play? You broke my immersion.

Whoa! I just checked Mick's other posts. This seems to be for real!

How many does he have?

As well as adding a computer spec to your post (as other have requested) it might be worth saying what sort of web connection you have as well.

Speed, wired, wireless, whatever...

Consider purchasing a computer made in this century that runs off electricity, not steam or hamsters on treadmills. You should also consider having it made by someone who knows how to build a computer, not by a carpenter. Oh and don't use disappearing hard drives, they're no help at all.
