I cant do it captain... I dont have the power!

oops!

top tip, do not put 2 rail guns on a sidewinder.

I was tinkering with controls and accidentally bought them when faffing around.
press fire and the entire ship overloads and goes into shutdown, no life support, no engines, no shields and no controls at all...... even then the guns would not fire.
I dont even like the damn guns, but this is what this beta is for mucking around trying new things........ now trying a couple of cannons.
slow firing and slow travelling projectiles but if you hit they pack a wallop.

I had a proper guffaw at this.

Reminds me of many times playing Mechwarrior Mercenaries multiplayer at college, loading my mech down with PPCs, large pulse lasers and short range missiles, sacrificing heat sinks for more damage output...

Then I'd face off with my friend Paul in his Atlas, I'd hit the Alpha Strike key (fire all at once), and from his point of view I would explode spectacularly right in front of him.

Last thing I would hear was: "reactor crit.........."

:D

Got to you modules panel and set all essential modules to priority 2, like shields, drives, life support ... leave not-combat-essential modules at 1, like frameshift dirve.
Now deploy your hardpoints, the ship will not power off completely, only priority 1 modules are powered down to leave enough power for the others.

Are you sure that is the right way round? I would have thought priority 2 things would shut down first....
Of course it depends on your priorities, if breathing is a needless hassle, by all means turn it off, lol.

Can you fire two rail guns on a sidey if you turn everything else off?
It would make for a good stealth mission if you had no drives, no shields ,no life support and it was the only way to get close enough to something with enough surprise firepower to complete the mission...

That's why you have to find a lake (if available, of course), stand in it and ambush you enemy there. Worked for me. ;)

I remember the fun of MW4 Mercs.

Mechwarrior Online is now the continuation of those days. I have been a backer of MWO for the past 2 years ever since it started in Close Beta (2 years ago) and its still the only game out there that you can have true Big Stompy Robot fun.

Sidewinder can handle ONE railgun and a Cannon, but not 2 Railguns. However the best thing for the Sidewinder I have found has been a pair of Burst Lasers. The Cobra MK3 is its Big Brother and can use 2 C4 Railguns without overheating in one shot (takes like 2-3 before heat issues happen).

Sidewinder can handle twin rails if you set module priorities first. Same goes for eagle (Though it gets a bit mess if you add a third high energy weapon).
