Newcomer / Intro I can't find surface port

I've scanned and mapped all the planets in the solar system and can't find a surface port to sell merchandise.

They are also not in the points of interest of the solar map, there are only restricted surface port + / ++, the solar system is scanned and mapped at 100%.

it would be very helpful, thanks

This info is for Horizons, I am not running Oddity so far so can't comment on that:

If you see a surface installation with + signs you know that those are not ports - you cannot dock at them, they are settlements (the + signs indicate their security level).

There may not be a surface port in your system of course. You can tell them apart from other surface installations by their icons (which have a sort-of tower).

In your system map, you can open the right-hand tab of the info panel, that shows you a list of stations, ports and settlements in the system.

In Odyssey it is even easier, in the system map select the Points of Interest and a second set of control icons appears representing Space Stations, Landable Bodies, Surface Ports, Horizons style Settlements and Odyssey Settlements that have interiors and Conflict Zones.

As @Para Handy says not all systems have surface ports.

I've noticed that some ports listed in my commodities list are not in Horizon, but are Odyssey based. I'm curious why those ports are listed when you cannot reach them. Makes the whole trade experience very complicated. For instance Klein Industrial in HR 8061 is on the commodities list in Horizon, but it is a Odyssey only base. Wish there was a filter for this, or the Odyssey sites were just removed altogether.
