I can't find Tourist Site "Gargantuan"

I took a Passenger Mission "FLOYD ROLLINS WANTS TO GO TO GARGANTUAN, AND COLLECT DATA", So I went to VY Canis Majoris, but I can't find the Tourist Site "Gargantuan" (the Target Body is VY Canis Majoris). Seeing as VY Canis Majoris is big (about 1800 times bigger than Sol), and when you enter the system, you're about 5990Ls from the centre of the star, and POI's only show up on the sensor once you're within 1000Ls of them, it's very hard to find it.

Has anyone else actually found it yet? Is there any way of finding it, other than circling the star for hours and hoping to catch it when it finally does appear? I really would like to finish this mission, and head back to the bubble.

Does an ADS honk reveal it? Otherwise it may be near the companion star in the system.
An ADS honk shows nothing new. The nearest companion star is VY Canis Major B, which is very small, but the Tourist Site isn't there, it's listed as being at VY Canis Majoris, the main star, itself. :(

is floyd getting restless?
Not yet. I search for a while, then exit the game before returning to continue the search.

As far as I know, no, there's no simple way other than supercruising around the star till you find it. If anyone happens to find it within range of the jump-in point from a certain star, let us know. Now that the arrival points are fixed rather than random, if someone jumps into the system from a certain star and finds the beacon straight away, then the beacon should always be in range for anyone jumping from that star.

They really should think about having tourist beacons either be visible from more than 1000 Ls away, or make them respond to a disco honk. They are, after all, beacons, that are presumably trying to loudly advertise their presence to any passing ships. They're not like a dead, derelict space probe 2,000,000 Ls from Sol.

I'm planning to head out to VY Can Maj sometime in the next week or so. I'll try to do some experimenting when I'm there, if no-one else has posted a solution.

The following thread seems to suggest the mission is broken.

Not "broken", just not well thought through in terms of just how big this star is, and how large a sphere of volume we therefore have to explore randomly until the beacon is found. If we could be assured it was in a "logical" place, like in a direct line with Sol or something, that might help. Putting it in a direct line with Sol might also make it much easier to find, since I'd assume most people arrive at VY Can Maj coming from that general direction.

Exactly! Not broken. The star, VY Canis Majoris is a Red Supergiant star, and it's HUGE, with Solar Radius of 1420.0000, making it very hard to find the Tourist Beacon, which is picked up from a maximum distance of 1000Ls.
The secondary star, is a tiny Class Y dwarf, with a Solar Radius of 0.0233, and it's only about 12,000Ls from the main star making it a much better place to put the Tourist Beacon.
