I cant log in using the old download link/Launcher

So I posted here that I had purchased Eliteangerous long ago, and thanks to the previous comments I was able to download and install the Launcher, however, whenever I launch the game I cannot connect to the servers. Is this maybe due to the old launcher? and if so, how do I fix that?

EDIT: Found out why... was my VPN

Check that there's not a pop up of your firewall / AV software behind the launcher window asking if this connection should be allowed.
