I can't see my friend ingame.

I can't see my friend ingame

We are both outside the same station. But we can't see each other.. At all.. He is only visable on the galaxy map. if there are multiple shards of a server how do i goto his shard?

We have tried partying up with each other but that doesn't solve the problem.

Help please :(

Are you sure he is really there?? :) JK

There a lot of server mis-match errors, try going to the main menu, both of you, and in the bottom left corner check the server number if it matches up try again. If not wait for the hotfix, and then wait for the next hotfix. Or try switching between open and group.

EDIT: Are you able to successfully wing-up with your friend?

Its match making, the game tries to keep you together with friends but doesnt always manage it. Is your friend local to you or overseas as the matchmaking might not like putting you together cos of how bad you connect together.

There is no server in which to find him on. This game is strictly P2P. Having said that, there are TERRIBLE instancing bugs in this game, even when winged up.

Yes i am able to successfully wing-up with my friend. But i can't text him or anything.

He lives like half a km from me so it shouldn't be a issue :/

Sorry about the spam i´m not used to forums.

My friends and I experienced the same thing. Our workaround is to use the wing beacon function. One member of wing turns on beacon and then you can supercruise to your companions instance.

Angeloc, I had this problem when I was with a friend.

In the end, we went with a private group. One of you creates a private group (it's called your commander name automatically) at the main menu screen. You can throw your friend an invite there. They have to first accept the invite to the group (you can also search for your group and you can accept, in which case you have to accept before doing anything else). Once done, both of you start the game in 'Private Group' selecting the one you created. If you aren't immediately in the same instance, wing up, and then you should see each other. If not immediately, one of you come out of the instance, then drop back in. You could try Open Play after that.

Just to be sure, you have both been playing before right yes? The game keeps new commanders in their own private instance until they perform a jump if i recall correctly, regardless of open mode having been selected.

My friends and I experienced the same thing.

This has been a problem since the game began, heres a novel idea: FIX IT FRONTIER.
Going on a year now and Elite Dangerous fails at basic multiplayer connections. Can I get a refund or maybe you should keep the money and hire someone who knows how to make it work decently? Unreal.
