Newcomer / Intro I can't stop the ship

Sorry for this newbie question, but seems like I can't stop my ship :D

I've setup the control as the "The Harmless' Guide to the Galaxy" says, I traveled around with the ship without problem but now I'm trying to get near a station and seems like my ship cannot stop totally. The lower I can get is 30km/s (even tried with the stop button).

I've used the search function and I can't find anything... Am I doing something wrong or it's a bug?

Sounds like you aren't dropping out of SuperCruise. You need to disengage it. The default key is 'J' I believe.

I'm not sure from what you've said whether you've super-cruised to the station, or just pootled about in normal space.
If you're in super-cruised you need to disengage your frame-shift drive, default key is "J". If you're in normal space you should stop moving when you cut all thrust - I have a key mapped to "X", but use a throttle on my joystick, you can check which key you have bound to zero thrust in the control options.

The 30km/sec and hitting the stop button were dead giveaways for me as that is the slowest speed in SC, and throttle to zero will result in a 30km/sec speed, and the all stop button will have no affect stopping the ship.

Have you tried pressing "X" the default for zero speed? I find I have to do that sometimes to recalibrates my throttle control.

I couldn't remember if 30km/s was the slowest SC speed of the top of my head, and "stop button" may have been referring to zero throttle in normal space.

My guess is that the OP has mixed up the SC disengage key with zero throttle and is using the wrong key to drop out of super-cruise.

Thanks for the replies! Looks like while I was customizing the control a pair of key bindings got erased. After reseting to the default input and redoing the custom scheme, the disengage works alright! :)

What I didn't realize is that in SC you can't fully stop. Still many things to read and try lol.
