I destroyed a moon!

Oops! That wasn't meant to happen. Picked up a mission to recover 2 hostages from somewhere in Frigaha. Dropped into the system and scanned the nav beacon. Go to 9D it says. OK no problem. En route get an NPC interdiction but easily shake it off. Hit the atmosphere and start to cruise down to my search site, land and am about to jump into my SRV when NPC shows up again. Usual demands about give me cargo etc.

So I think "stuff you let's have at it" take off and find myself circling a python in my cobra. This could end badly perhaps. Pipped my lasers and went for it. We each stripped our shields and I made the error of not getting my shields back up. The inevitable "hull integrity critical" warning rang in my ears as once more I was blown into atoms.

Oh well I should've known the game doesn't want me to break 15 million credits by now (I always seem to get annihilated). To the rebuy screen. Getting comfy in my shiny new cobra, right back to Frigaha then. After all I have some people to rescue. Come out of warp and try to point myself at 9D. But it's not there? A yep B yep C yep D nope E yep? Hang on it's not even on the system map? I fly about a bit. There was a moon before I blew up, I landed on it! But it's gone now.

Sorry didn't mean it. I left my 'instance' and logged back in. Still no 9D! People get upset about getting shot down but this is worse isn't it! Just going to have a look again and see if it's come back.

Frigaha 9 has moons A B C E F G and H. But no D. Oops. Anyone else managed this?

It's okay everyone it came back! I logged off, made a cup of tea, logged back on and there she was. Phew. Sorry. I'll just make sure not to blow up in low orbit again. Those NPC pythons eh bunch of jokers.

OP has not so much destroyed a moon as lost it.

This is very careless, I feel.

Have you tried looking down the gap at the back of the sofa?

It'll probably be covering in dog hair and fluff by now.

;)

I find moons are more often found down the gap in the back of truckdrivers pants (and i dont wanna think about the fluff there)

edit...and plumbers builders etc (i just see more truckies in my line of work)

first thought was about a phone call i had once starting:

"HELP! i deleted the internet"

but

you did die, so scan data is lost, try rescan

Seems to be happening more recently - rescan the beacon or honk yr ADS
I experienced some strange things while flying around last night, like coming out of warp to find your ship is a long way from the star several times, and also last night I came out of super cruise and spawned inside of an asteroid base. Of course, I got fined because I was trespassing, no big deal. After I exited the station I was shocked to see what looked like a giant baked potato, then realized what I was seeing. Elite twilight zone maybe.

I can explain at least this one.
In systems with two or more stars that are close to each other, it used to be the case that if you jumped out close to one star, you might find yourself colliding with a second.
So now you jump into close binaries much farther away to prevent this happening :).
