I do not think this is an ideal system for colonization but might be okay for NPCs as a mining/extraction/industry system?

TBH, I just wanted to find something after hours of searching for something with a little of everything in it (which I could not find, so I settled so I could go to bed and start the next day to make a memorial for my late F-I-Law) and if my fist system ends up with nothing but the outpost I built to honor my late father-in-law's memory that is fine. But I was wondering if it might be worth building a large station near the asteroid fields by the star, or near the planets with pristine rings I might end up with a refinery station and an extraction station and maybe it will work as a mining system for NPCs. I want to build and let them roll with it.

Any advice (Constructive, not snarky or trolling) is appreciated.

If the system is worthless I'll find a better one.

But if it could benefit from 1-2 more stations (More later) I might just put a few on it and move to something better.

In Elite Dangerous I claimed Col 285 Sector GT-O b20-0. The system has a class M star, and 2 asteroid fields, Class I gas giant with Icy (Pristine) and Metal rich (Pristine) rings. Class 1 gas giant with Icy (Pristine) and Rocky (Pristine) rings. There are also icy bodies.
Will this system be worth colonizing at all?

I did just realize that my icy bodies have some geysers on them, one having major geysers, and those translate into tourist missions in the mission board, so there is that also.

Thank you.

With all your landable planets being icy you probably won't get much in terms of effective Refinery economy out there. You really need rocky bodies for that, HMCs if you have to.

Extraction you could certainly get with asteroid bases in the belt clusters / ring systems.

Any civilian/commercial outposts or higher-tier stations built on or around those icy bodies would be good Industrial producers (better on the ones which don't have geysers / biologicals)

You can probably avoid generating weak links entirely with a system like that if you want, so a good Extraction/Industrial system (on different stations) is very possible.

Worth is defined by your desires. It won't make a great resource hub for colonisation. It will make a fairly good extraction, industrial system that has good opportunities for bounty hunting in the hazres. Finish your primary port check what pops up in the system and then decide if you'd like to place a large port near them for repair/reararm.

It's probably a good first system you don't need it to be a pure refinery so you can just go nuts and build it more thematic. If you actually need everything from the industry ports it's easy to set up a double port to ensure full industry markets. You can do the same with high tech. Extraction in that system will probably require that the bonus slot bug happens on one of the ringed worlds which is a fairly big risk to take.

Refinery and agriculture are bad choices for that system for markets that sell stuff but you could even add a refinery so you have somewhere that buys mined commodities. Adding industry to a refinery won't remove it's demand for raw goods. All in all it just depends what you want from it but that system would make a perfectly acceptable soup system where you can fight, mine and buy industrial goods.

You can get a usable surface refinery port by building a scientific surface outpost and two refinery hubs on one of the moons with 3 surface slots. But you can't get a good orbital refinery and you won't get insulating membranes or precious metals. Other than that, you can have good bounty hunting opportunities and you can build a good mix of Industrial and High Tech stations and surface ports that don't clash with each other too horribly if you keep them on/around different bodies. I have a similar system with only icy bodies and I get almost all necessary colonization commodities locally despite all the handicaps imposed by planetary influences and weak links.

Overall, a system like this is more suitable for "vibe building" than getting a very specific, very strong economic output. So my advice would be to scout out the various moons for nice views and build whatever you think would be cool places to visit/take missions to.
