I Doff my cap to the Men and Women @ Frontier

Docking and the Coriolis Space station are icons in the Elite Universe.

I have to say the BAFTA footage (and comments from those that were lucky enough to have a go) would seem to be evidence that those fine men and women at Frontier Developments have done an oustanding job in creating a modern masterpiece.

The real confirmation will be when Alpha 3.0 is released and all those lucky Bast... i mean Alpha testers get to have a go. It could be a load of plop, but i think not.

The docking sequence and Space Station have been realised in a way that sets it head and shoulders above anything else and establishes a very high benchmark for anything similar that follows. It also makes it seem a little closer to becoming reality.

I know there is still a fair way to go and a lot to be done, but I would like to say Thank You.

Elite on the 64 was an influential part of my childhood and now I am a big kid it is strangely satisfying to see Elite making a return in such splendour.

I feel privileged and honoured to have been part of this little bit of history.

Totally agree. I do not think there is any game so far which I have played for more hours than Elite. Particularly if you add together the original (on the BBC Micro) and the subsequent two on Amiga and PC.

I look forward to playing many more hours once beta 2 arrives!

Damn I lost weeks upon weeks as a teenager playing elite! when I could have been out chasing girls!:p

if you look at it that way suddenly £200 on alpha seems a bargain.

I could spend that on a bird on trying to impress and may not end up with anything to show for it.

with elite at least you know she will perform.

*looks hastily over shoulder to make sure wife not reading ;) *

Yes an exceptional work. One must imagine the game in its retail version. The galaxy which teeming of life. And later the planetary landings. A reference. A cult game which crosses the decades

I think it is impressive that they managed to make it look like how you might imagine it looking in the original games had there been the same level of technology back then, rather than making it look like every other futuristic game out there right now.

I predict it is going to be a timeless classic of the 'Neo Adventure Space Sim Age' (NASSA for short)

I was already married when Elite appeared, so it didn't stop me chasing girls, if you see what I mean. ;)
I didn't even buy my first computer - my wife brought home an Acorn Electron, & the rest (like my marriage, lol) is history. I lost years playing Elite & Frontier & I'm not sure my GF knows that it's likely to happen again, but fortunately she's happy if she knows where I am & what I'm doing. As long as the lawn is mowed, the hedge is trimmed, etc etc.

Proof is in the pudding (LET ME PLAY IT ALREADY!!), but yes...from what I've seen so far the docking/station stuff looks very good indeed. They have done good work for sure.

To Frontier... :)

Yep. Proud to have played some small part in it all too. :)

As the years rolled by and I kept asking when are they going to Make Elite 4 I thought this time would never come. It's looking like the ~30 year wait from the original was worth it.

My dear, Jenner. Have we not already been over this? The proof OF the pudding is IN THE EATING. You know I love you and everything, but really, let us not mangle our metaphors. It is unbecoming.

Ohhh yeah! Silly me.

WELL, I WOULD BE EATING ALPHA 3 RIGHT NOW BUT I'M A WORK!!! AARRGHDKLADLLDLAKDLSDKA
