I don't believe the propaganda!!!

having watched numerous videos and read a couple of threads in the forums, i have come to the conclusion that the Thargoids are not the big threat they are being portrayed to be. while everyone is going full war of the worlds panic, no one has asked the obvious questions about the latest "attack".

1) did anyone see the thargoid ship actually attack the feds?
2) if they did attack, how did they know the convoy would be there at that moment in time and space? starting to smell a bit fishy
3)if the thargoids didn't attack the convoy, who did, why did they, and how did they get there hands on thargoid technology?
4)is there any evidence that the thargoids are actually hostile?
and most importantly
5)is there any more information out there about the shadowy group pulling the strings of the galaxy?

these will be the questions the M.S.R. and our allies will hopefully be finding answers to, stay tuned for more information on our Dangerous groups thread. and if you would like to join us in our investigations then leave details and either me or one of my associates will get in touch.

I have seen enough videos of people ramming the Goids when they were being peaceful and extracting their extractables from the surface of planets.
Ram me enough times and I will also attack you :p

you make some really valid points but if I am not mistaking the lore of Elite says they are extremely hostile. This make me believe that they will still be this way.

Maybe they were lured somehow? And that fleet arrogantly thought they could subdue the Thargoid ship in order to study their technology (and the Thargoids themselves).

Actually, in the original Elite they quite often found me and attacked me. I have no way of knowing how they did it then either, but that was back in 1984 (3270)..
So it's clearly possible as they already had the tech back then.

2850 – Unconfirmed suggestions that some kind of covert war was started with Thargoids, ostensibly by a trigger-happy Fleet Commander.
3125 – Thargoids alleged to be ‘ripping’ ships out of witchspace and destroying them. Thargoid ‘warzones’ widespread
3200 – Thargoids reportedly retreat from human occupied space for reasons unknown
3255 – Reason for Thargoid retreat was reported to be down to human-engineered ‘Mycoid’ virus which impacted their hyperdrive capability
3302 – Reports of curious wrecks of unknown vessels.
3303 – 8 sided alien ships rip CMDRs out of witchspace (hyperspace high wake), confirmed to be Thargoids after investigation by Professor Palin.

Fromhttps://www.drewwagar.com/lore/elite-dangerous-lore-the-thargoids/

They already have knowledge of their ships and Hyperdrives.

Never seen any hostile action on the part of the Thargoids yet. In the 80's they were dangerous adversaries. Nowadays they seem to be tame, not at all like 35 years ago. So I give them the benefit of the doubt.

not all thargoids were hostile there were factions of the thargoids that wanted peace with humans.

i just don't buy it especially after the galnet article from the leaders of the major powers

I wouldn't say 'tame'; they don't seem to do what people want them to do! I would agree though that I personally haven't seen any 'hostile' action. Ships have been disabled in their presence, which has caused damage to some ships, but it's a stretch to call that hostile.

I have already said in other posts about my feelings on their "hostility", we are told they are hostile but from who? has anyone, apart from the shoot to kill anything dweebs actually been attacked without provocation?

propaganda seems to be apparent here, just like this subject in real life, is it not strange that most noise about their hostility is coming from a military power(game equivalent) who would perhaps gain more by stealing their tech?

some of the behaviour with players contact is down right ridiculous, it is no wonder they maybe hostile towards humans. I would hope this is only if shot at or aggressive act towards them.

I for one would welcome peacefull contact and, if the moral is correct, work with them, ONLY if the ethics of their demands are reasonable

well, the Elite lore says that ancient humans (INRA coorp.) once crafted a highly potent virus and a small ship carrying it was able to reach the thargoids home planet.
The result was never confirmed though, but since the (rare but existent) early alien ecnounters suddenly stopped, its almost for certain that almost the entirety
of the home planets citizen were killed.

Soo, I would kind of understand why the thargoids would have a slight grudge against humanity and react hostile to human encounters

hmmmmmmm, interesting. thanks for the link, although again, it does show that there is the possibility of cooperative behaviour if the circumstances are right, but yeah an alien genocide is really the last straw for humanity(if they survive)

I'd rather shoot aliens than humans. There, I said it! BUT I'm hoping there is a lot more to their culture and civilisation than just all being bad aliens. Some we can shoot others we can ally.

We all assume these unknown ships are Thargoids simply because one beacon said so. Palin never proved it before his research was stolen. You know what they say "asuumption is the mother of all Fuq ups". :)
But yeah it is Thargoids because "reasons".

You say they are not hostile but if someone forcibly stopped my motorbike on the road then blinded me with funky lights I'd consider that hostile regardless of whether they did any damage or not.

yeah but that's because its a human doing it to you? if its an alien id maybe hold fire for a few seconds just to see how it turns out, what could you do anyway? it would be pointless. I'm sure any half clever person can tell right away that its an alien investigating us and see what they want, do they want to communicate? trade? or yep, if needs be, do we need to shoot?
