I dont play open much, IS this type of community we have?

Ok so I decided to play open for a little to see some players, I don't kill players much since I feel bad given the rebuy can leave a nasty sting. I had some trouble last night and combat logged as I was unable to get away from these people who seemed hell-bent on killing me, fair enough though they didn't give a reason other than it was funny. I was also not the only target, they where doing it to many others and unfortunately I witnessed many python deaths and some clipper limping away for 10% hull.

SO with that I posted on the Reddit page for Elite and found my self the victim of some nasty comments that I thought made the game look quite bad really since not all players want to PVP, I like PVP like really like it though when there is no reason to attack and given I had asked them to stop, I am now being told im on a "List" and should just leave...

Is this the view of the whole community that I should of let the FDL + 2 Vultures kill me instead of combat logging after to successful getaways, I only wanted to land and log off and now I get this storm.

That kind of encounter is incredibly rare
But it happens.

However, if your only solution is to exploit how the system works, then yes- yes you should.

I just find the less interaction in open i have the better ED actually is.. if i want a peaceful game session with no pvp, i switch to solo or private group. Its problem solved. If my ship is a combat equipped ship capable of holding its own, then i'll play open. I think the ship you were in likely could have tailed it out with no issues though.

I didn't make this clear though my ship was almost stock clipper with E thrusters, I was playing with my brother and the station we where at didn't sell upgrade for thrusters.

I didn't read what was said in the other forum, but it seems to me you logged into open knowing the risks and when things got too much for you... you combat logged. You are worse than the people chasing you in my opinion.

You can block those players and the Matchmaking should only put you in the same instance very rarely.

AHHH here we go!, SO you think its okay for a gang of 3 players with no motive AT ALL to kill random players as it suits them? now I was playing in Open as the instancing was not working in private further more why should I resort to playing on my own in fear for a few s? Its not that it got to much, its that 3 players, not 1 not 2 but 3 players. I can handle being attacked but when that attack is repeated again and again, that's not fun game play. I am also unable to logout normally to switch to solo until I am out of combat something that was made almost imposable as I explained.

Combat logging IS considered an exploit. You decided to play in Open, with all that entails. You made a choice that had a bad outcome, personally I live with with my bad choices and outcomes, costs be damned. Sometimes that truly stings. You got yourself into the pickle, you should have found a legitimate way to get yourself out.

Another way to look at this is would people be as forgiving of someone that uses the supercruise shield regen exploit, to come back and kill the two attackers? If so then that means it's not an exploit if you use it to YOUR advantage, but it is an exploit if someone else does it. Honestly, think about it, it's not fair, so you were wrong.

It is a supported role in the game. So yes, it was legit for those players to play that way. Combat logging is not supported and is considered an exploit. Seems like the games rules over rules your desires.

Truthfully, I don't trust a word you say or even think any of this happened to you in the first place.

You bought the game. Play it your way, it is your $$ you spent. Enjoy it however you want. It others are butt hurt, screw them. They can come on the forum and talk crap all they want. In the end, everyone paid for the game. So play it how you want. If it was against the rules, it would not be allowed. An exploit is part of the game. Tell them "suck it up, buttercup". If you get black listed, who cares.

If you had died legitimately you would have spawned in a station where you could switch to solo in perfect safety.

I can see from your sig that your response was going to be an interesting one... I never once said I didn't like to be killed, I don't like being repeatedly interdicted with no way of getting away. Your basically say lay down and die... rebuy and switch when you respawn.

Absolutely you should have "let them" kill you - or rather, you should have used every option available in-game to evade, and then accepted death if there was no other option left. The players may have been jerks, but cheating is much worse.

I truthfully don't believe a word you say or think this even happened to you in the first place.

You do the math. Just so you know, it "might" be arguable that combat logging is an exploit. Them chasing you... not doing a damn thing wrong.

Jump out of the system, or drop out of supercruise then jump out of the system, or evade the interdiction, or fight. You had plenty of options.

Combat logging is a cheat/exploit.
