I don't see any rare goods?

This is most likely the silliest of questions, but I have never seen a single rare good anywhere, and after putting at least 30 hours into Elite so far, I have visited a fair number of places. Any tips or tricks to find them? Are there any prerequisite requirements such as faction friendliness? I understand the concept of 'rare,' however I didn't think that in this context that it meant nonexistent.
I'm not asking where exactly can I find them, that would be silly. I simply want to know if there is some sort of method or requirement which must be performed/met before anything rare will start appearing in Commodities Markets.

Nope. You just need to visit the right places. Some are obvious if you know any of the lore.

I know of between 100 and 200 rares spaceports (not even systems in general). In a populated space of how many thousands? It is highly likely that you have just not gone to the right places yet.

There is a cluster in the general area of Lave/Diso/Leesti, etc. Which is one of the main reasons it is so dangerous.
