You're a bit late. They were common as dirt in 2.2. They were in fact too common but it seems the pendulum has swung in the other direction. I still have 6 in my inventory so they do exist.
I'm wondering if it's a bug. I haven't seen a *single* one.

Not in mission rewards since the last patch though, the rewards are buggered again, slow clap for fd...
And no you didn't. Miss information like this is incredibly annoying but all to common from people who appear to be unable to distinguish the words equisite and refined, equisite have only ever been found on the mission board.
All v rare mats have disappeared from mission rewards, so no more biotech conducters for long range weapons either.
I have 2, for what it is worth!

I'm really disappointed by this. I thought I had plenty, but on finally completing my spreadsheet and aiming for enough of each material that I could re-roll a reasonable number of times, I figured out I really want about 46 of them. And I have 24. I probably threw some away, too, as in 2.2 this was true:
Since 2.3 I haven't seen a single one, despite hanging out in my Allied, High Tech bases and looking at at least 50 missions. Not gonna' say they don't exist at all, but I really regret not getting more before 2.3 dropped.

As of 2.3, no material/commodity labeled as 'Very Rare' are given as mission rewards. Biotech and EFC's are mission only items, so therefore, no longer exist. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/344190-Very-Rare-Mission-Rewards-do-not-appear-in-game

They are broken again as of 2.3. It has been reported and noticed by the devs already
