I dun goofed

Lakon Type 7
216 tonnes of Palladium worth 3 million CR
Set up my route on the map, "hmm, what does that dotted line mean? meh, probably a bug". I make my first jump, then go to make the second one.... Not enough fuel. No stations, not enough fuel to reach anywhere else... So, I self destruct.

30 seconds later I realise if I had jettisoned some cargo, I'd probably have had enough range to get somewhere, saving my 1.3 million insurance cost and some of my 3 million cargo.

Derp.

Fuel scooping in an L7 can be like watching paint dry (because I know I'M not giving up a good cargo slot for it!) but it is absolutely essential. I think the full fuel bill is 15,000 credits. Yes I could afford that, but why should I give up that profit?

Oh well we all make mistakes, I remember not long ago when I entered a station but forgot to ask permission so I immediately hit reverse and waited just outside the letter box and i just noticed the timer running down to 1 then 0 and B00M station blow me away, I tell ya that cost me 64,000cr.....was well gutted.

but ill never make that mistake again :)

Nothing like the pain of a self inflicted damage to sharpen the mind and learn something new or remember something obvious forever.
So, add to the pre-flight list one more item...

There's an distress beacon to call for help, or did they remove that?

No more... Just shed weight until being able to jump or self destroy.

Beat my first Python, and as it died I stopped manouvering to watch it blow up ...it was burning away, in its death throws and as I stood there admiring it, it face planted itself in my windscreen .. that was a 100k + 200K cargo loss ... re-spawned ..re cargo-ed, hit max thrust from station .. Lakon 9 dropped into the slot ...face plant again 100k+200k cargo.. I was fuming at myself, 600K lost out of my 1 mil cr balance in 5 mins
