I feel asleep in the rift.

Last night I was trying to squeeze in one more run before bed to the Hutton Mug CG. If any of you have ever been to Hutton Orbital you know it takes literally 90 minutes to get there in supercruise. I was listening to hutton orbital radio which was playing classical music. It was relaxing. the hum of the ship in supercruise in the background. I decided to lay back in my leather office chair and rest my eyes for a bit. I came to about an hour later with the rift still on and opened my eyes. It was surreal. Any notion I was sitting in my home office with this thing strapped to my face was non existent. I woke up and looked around my ship in utter panic wondering how I got here than the reality came crashing down on me when I realized what had happened. That brief separation of reality was priceless.

Fantastic, put a smile on my face.
Imagine how it would have felt if the HMD was wireless, no tugging at the back of your head. :)

This has happened to me. What frightens me about it is how un-disoriented I was waking up. Mind you, I didn't think "I'm in my office wearing a rift" I thought "I fell asleep while flying"

How many thousands of tons of metal does it take to make some crappy mugs that don't even exist. For heaven's sake - is this the best entertainment we have?

It's certainly imaginative (and from the players) - which beats most of FD's astrophysics obsessed 'un-fun' efforts. But it is surely scraping the barrel for amusement.

I am glad that I am not the only one who has done this LOL It is one of the best, strangest, scariest feelings ever. I was doing trade runs, and dozed off. I was woken up by the computer telling me I was under attack! I had been interdicted while I was asleep! I didnt even think for a moment that it was a game, it was so surreal.

:)

Happens to me on a regular basis - I have to work ~4 25 hour shifts a month and usually try not to sleep during the day after.
The darkness of space and humming of the engines can have a very soothing effect though.
It was very weird at first but I got used to it to some extent - I dread the moment when I get woken up by my own suffocation noises due to running out of fuel though.

I know it will happen eventually.

I had a cracker of an experience a couple of days back. I woke up inside the Coriolis Station just as I was about to hit the back wall. I had no recollection of lining myself up with the slot. Goodness knows what it must've looked like as I grinded and screeched through the slot. Luckily it was a backwater system and nobody saw me.

Done that countless times myself too.
