I feel like something similar to The Smiler would be impossible to create

I'm scared that the game will lack some sort of custom support system. The Smiler uses a really compact support system since it's so dense, with the track everywhere and the queue under the coaster. The theme would possibly never even work out if UGC is never supported.

And inversions would be impossible too, with the current coaster builder. Even with 360 degreerotation in every direction. You have to move certain nodes and set their pitch. And sometimes a slope has to be longer than others. (hard to explain, will have to put a pic in hear tomorrow)

I realized that the strata coasters like Top Thrill Dragster would also follow this support problem since it uses another type of support system. And about the inversions, I really do hope they let you have more flexibility in the coaster editor in the future.

The real true test of the coaster builder starts in Alpha phase 2. Let's see what's is available then.

I also hope we'll be able to add, delete and rehook supports to any chosen surface.

We haven't even seen the final coaster builder or supports. This game is still in alpha. They have told us they are working on supports and on the coaster builder. We just need to trust frontier to do a good job on the game. Based on what I have seen so far, I have full trust in their capabilities of developing this game.

As a game, I believe it will go down as one of the best of all time, but for micromanaging every little creative aspect... I think Frontier needs a little push in that aspect. The ability to manually edit supports is something very few would ever use, but would allow some creators to get very detailed.

Personally I really hope that there is an editing tool for support.
I am a FAN of custom support! And this is the most important application for me!

So I could recreate my coaster NL2 [yesnod]:

Wow! Ive never really seen or got into anything to do with NoLimits. It looks great.

I agree, there needs to be some way of changing and editing supports. Be it some form of piece by piece done within the coaster editor or done through the building editor.
Maybe it can be done through a point to point node editing method??

To be fair the game isn't a hardcore CAD coaster editor/simulator like NL2. It's a theme park building game which, while it seems like the designers are trying to be fairly accurate to real life, is never going to be 100% realistic.

There's only so much they can do with their available resources to make sure they produce a well rounded game with good gameplay rather than being too detail obsessed. Plus there is a probably a balance between giving the user the freedom to edit literally everything and not making the game run too slow.

And as other posters have said, the coaster editor isn't even officially in the Alpha yet and they haven't really said much about it since the alpha release other than that they are still working to improve it so I am sure it will be better in the next release! At least it's nowhere near as bad as the first Beta weekend of the other game where it seemed impossible to build any sort of compact coasters at all!

This game is fun but for real serious coaster building simulation the power of NL2 can't be beat.

Lets see what the phase 2 version of the coaster builder brings to the table before we write anything off as impossible! They're listening to our feedback as the latest live stream shows so I think it's fair we give them a chance and provide as much feedback as we can about what needs to be added to make the coaster builder the one we all want.

No problem for me!
I would just say "I really hope" that a tool exists.
I fully trust the Dev Team Frontier that will make all how is best to make us all agree![yesnod]

After that there is no one tool will otherwise.[up]
