Increasing the FSD ranges on all my main account ships are now at odds of 20:1 against.
More than 43 light years+ on Alison (armored, shielded, and fully armed and equipped). Penny The Python is at about thirty light-years capacity. *With* huge missiles and guns. Gladys The Cobra 3 can jump nearly thirty-two light years, and can do just about anything.
My thrusters are all the best they can be, without Palin, or Qwent.
Thanks to Selene Jean, my armor situation is similar to my FSD situation. The Painite Was Worth It.
I have all the firepower I need to run, not fight. Thank you Mr. Dweller. And Thank You for the Power Distributors.
Level 5 shields from Lee, plus boosters covereth me.
So, I freed up tens of millions in frame wake scanners, and mining gear, deposited over the galaxy near pristine sites.
No more FedExing ships and equipment, once I get the materials, in a fools parade around inhabited space, equipping every ship at the next road stop for engineering.
When Our Friends, The Thargoids, arrive, I shall bravely jump away (leaving the combat ships behind, cashing them out). Do I take Penny, Alison, or Gladys? Penny has the brute capacity. Alison has the range. Gladys can run, and there are modules out there for her.
Because, I am not going through this again. I do not need to repeat Basic Training (though as a enlisted to commissioned, I had to, essentially).
Our Avacado Pals are going to make you grind, again. I will enjoy watching the Community Goals when I get the vids.
The alt account has One Lone Sidewinder as a backup, plus about a dozen rebuys for the Asp. It can make itself haul Asp to Colonia, with SRV and AFMS. I might not get my own faction, but I *can* make an annoyance of myself.
This CG has demonstrated, to me, that this is not my desired playstyle. I can make 75-50% in the rankings, but no more. That require sacrificing a weekend. If others enjoy this, excellent. I would rather be traveling Out There.
To put this back on topic for engineering, there *is* a diminishing point of returns for time investment. When you have to make a series of twenty 5% chance rolls (each with unique negative consequences), to an already more-than-acceptable build, you are wasting time. If you are a non-combat player, this point arrives sooner. Tuning up the best PvP ship is an art form. I congratulate those who pursue it successfully.
I do not need such perfection to explore. A long-range, low heat build, with adequate protection, weapons, and sensors/equipment suffices.
Look how far Sneaky Pete got.
Enjoy the engineering. I have spent my billions in outfitting.
If anyone is interested in a Engineering 12 Step Group, that should be another thread.
Ralph.
