I feel soooooo stupid right now ! ( ram tah epic fail ! )

2 weeks, let me say that again. 2 WEEKS that I've been scanning the Guardians obelisks.

Going form system to system, swapping ancient guardian objects like a brainless monkey. Scan, go to the next, scan, already had the info scan the next, need to change my totem for an orb, go back to the ship, swap, get back to the obelisk....

etc..., etc..., etc....

And I'm not complaining on the nature of the guardian obelisks mission.

Because for all the "grind", I had a lot of fun out of it !

Managed to rack up to 78 million credits, but I knew by then that I could not make the whole 100 millions on time.

Then came the Beta, and decided to put the guardian stuff aside to test the new builds.

And test I did. And in fact, besides all the glitches and fun stuff that can happen in a beta I was having a WALE of a time !

I simply could not go back to live.

Until today my mind somewhat told me, " weren't you doing something important ? "

So I came back to live, and I was like " oh yeah the Ram Tah thing ! How much time I have left ? "

I check the mission panel, and then I noticed the time left.

30 minutes..........

"It's OK" I thought, "that just means that after 30 minutes I wont be receiving any more money from the scans and the mission will be over"

And so I decided to go for another guardian temple before making the trip back to the bubble.

And I kept scanning and scanning, and I wondered "aren't the 30 minutes over now ? How odd that I didn't receive a notification by now."

And I checked the mission panel.

......

And there was nothing......

Checked again, nothing......

I got back to desktop, launched the game again. Maybe it's just a bug !

And still nothing.

The mission was simply terminated !

I could not believe just how stupid I was. All this time I thought that once the timer runs out, I would simply stop receiving money and it would mean I could go back to the bubble and cash on my mission.

Never I thought that the mission would simply terminate once the time was up. There is no one here to blame but myself, and the reason why I'm posting this is to try and make terms with it, or maybe so that someone could just say how dumb I am.

Anyway lesson learned, never leave something half way unfinished.

And for those wanting to try and do the Ram Tah run, my experience will hopefully prove useful. Don't let the time run out ! Or you will loose everything .

Now excuse while I try to drown my sorrow in some Irish whiskey.

....70 millions....

I feel with you. Maybe try to contact support never the less. They usually are a friendly bunch. You where testing the beta after all. And that free of charge.

It's not you, it's the boring storyline repetitive missions that are stupid.
I was doing it when the Ram 100M mission first came out, Fdev decided to tweak something or other about halfway through and I lost all my credits also.

Never bothered going back to the ruins again.

I know someone else who did the same thing, only with 89m in scans. It stinks.

I do plan to revise my Guardian Ruins notes after the beta, as I had previously complied a method that would allow completion in just under 5.5 hours, including flying out and back.

Wait... you only get paid when you hand in the mission?

it's ages since I've done any Ram Tah stuff but I thought you got paid for every scan and the only thing you could miss out on was any bonus if you didn't get back to complete the mission?

I can never ever do that mission.

I simply don't have enough game time in 30 days to finish it. Lol

Plus 100m credits for that amount of work is rather low. :p

I just can't imagine someone pitching the idea for these scan missions.

It took me about an hour to fly to the mission location and do some scans. Then I realized I was supposed to visit Ram Tah first (something that wasn't really clear from the GalNet). Then I flew all the way back to Ram Tah and got the mission but then lost interest in flying all the way back to the mission site.

Oh, the tedium. It's like an open world game where you can only fast travel from one adjacent town to the other and it sometimes takes you an hour of fast traveling 30 times to get somewhere.

I find its only when I try to engage with the content that I get so angry at this game.

I'm looking forward to Chapter 4 but I'm annoyed that I can't get stuff like Guardian weapons and engineer upgrades without engaging mindnumbing tedium.

Aw dude, that's harsh, thanks for doing my learning for me. :D

Always ready to take one for the team boss ! o7

Besides, now that i'm all the way over there, I'll wait for the update to go live and start probing EVERY SINGLE PLANET on my way back, that should bring me some nice compensation.

And probably is a nice substitution for the Guardian grind.

That sucks. :( Then again, every mission is scrapped when you dont do it in time...

Yes, even successfully completed ones!

The thing with missions is that they are completed, not when the timer is removed, but when you collect the reward.

I had a mission that said it was successfully completed, and the timer was removed, but I did not go to collect my reward right away. The next day, the mission was completely gone!

Yes, Ram Tah is an :x. He messages you after every scan and tells you that he received the data, but he will completely forget about you within 30 days of giving you the mission regardless of what you do.

So always give yourself a few days headroom.
