i feel this game should be free for those that purchased the lifetime expansion pass.

it would qualify as an expansion onto another platform
and serve to prove that the expansion pass money wasnt entirely wasted.

I am a backer from the start, so I'm life time. And I do not agree. This is the Xbox edition. You don't HAVE to buy it on Xbox. Neither did I. But I WANTED to, for two clear reason, play with Xbox friends, while supporting the devs, we aren't talking about EA, or Activision if it was them sure let them lose some money they could care less about us. But FD is a small company and this is their baby. If you truly love this game enough to want it on console after paying for it on PC, then why are you complaining. Just buy it, its discounted. Dude every one feels entitled, and that they are owed something free. So funny

Sorry rumtruffle. I'm a life time owner and I don't agree with you. Mavrac post explains pretty well my train of thoughts.

I was a backer also as I wanted to be part of helping get ED going. I didn't do it for any future monetary gain. Why do some people feel they are constantly owed something.

Backers at any level are not some privileged elite group.

Devil's advocate...

The main sticking point probably has to do with the distributor's (MS, Valve) cut. Giving XBOX licenses to backers likely costs something to Frontier.

Frontier gave away steam keys to existing customers which I imagine had some retroactive cost collected by Valve (I could be wrong, just a strong hunch).

Now, steam is just another distribution platform just like Xbox (I know, a stretch, I'm being a contrarian on purpose) so why shouldn't they extend the same option to backers wanting to play on Xbox as they did with Steam?

Disclaimer: I think doing that would cost FD way too much money but I am trying to outline the logic leading to this being perceived as unfair as it is currently. However, I would love to live in a world where game makers held all the keys. I want to live in a world where I can drop 70 bucks on some intellectual property and then be able to play it on any platform or multiple platforms that I choose.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all you backers. I'm a first time player on XB1 and I'm really enjoying this game that I don't think could have gone this far without you.

ON TOPIC: Pretty sure the plan all along has been support multiple licenses, bringing down the total purchase price.. But it's not there yet. My guess is when Win 10 comes out you'll see more games, even this one do the kind of thing the OP is looking for.. It's just not there yet.
