Because NMS reality is in-computer simulation, not real space, sorry for spoilers You play by computer program there.
I think it's on topic. This is me, ps4 Elite cmdr, expressing my feelings and solutions to Fdev's actions.Whilst Fdev are still discovering pathways and going around in circles, it seems you found just the right one, that lead where you wanted it to.
Enjoy, but I do think you took a mis-turn when posting, because this isn't off-topic or the NMS forums
Odyssey "delayed" for consoles, so no need for me to wait for such or similar experience. I went for something else that might give me fun with "exploring space".

Couldn't play Elite 4 months year ago. Built 20 bases in NMS However, quit game once Elite was back for me.
I really like Elite. Have over 2k hours on main cmdr and some 300 hours on alt.
But ps4 galaxy is pretty empty now in open. Many ps4 cmdrs either went to pursue Odyssey on pc's or just play something else.
Elite became single player experience even in open.
Combat CG's are broken. Phantom npc's, lasers from nothing, invisible cmdrs, broken fights...
Tried in open, not working.

Only interaction between cmdrs beside comms is interdiction if lucky to instance with someone.
So sometimes galaxy feels empty from cockpit and I need change of pace/scenery/content.

+ Never done it since day 1.
...and yeh, you can't expect to meet anybody in so big galaxy + that could be last you did. I try to avoid other cmdrs in fact.
You should understand that is not wow-like mmo. Where you gather parties. This game does most interaction over BGS server. So you're never alone even in solo

I had to upgrade from the cupboard though - using a shed now, but that's bringing its own problems, and I don't just mean the angry badgers that live under the floor.
