Newcomer / Intro I finally made it! And CQC beta question

Hey Guys, Ive been playing Elite Dangerous for about 2 months now in Solo mode. I figured I would get a few ships loaded up (at least as much as I can searching all over the damn galaxy for parts) and try and learn the game before jumping into multiplayer. So, I think I'm about ready to see the dramatic difference with real players. I can only imagine how hectic landing in a station can be with a bunch of crazies flying around

Anyway, I guess I'm in for a treat

OH, I recently pre ordered horizons, and added the liftetime pass. I then noticed I had a new start option QCQ beta. I had to install it, and when I started it, It had my status set back to a previous time, with a hell of alot less money, and my rank was lower then where I currently am. Is that normal?

I realized after reading alot of the topics around here, I dont know squat...lol

Open isn't bad at all, it's an adventure and seeing those hollow contacts sends shivers down my spine not knowing what to expect. 99% of the time everyone is just minding their own business and a few become friends. I started in open back in June and as long as you have insurance you'll enjoy it. Only got killed twice, and twice by NPCs too.

Yes that is normal i have had a python for about 2 months, but in the beta i am back in my old F.D.L.

Yes, this is normal. Beta is completely separate from the main game, and nothing you do in it will count towards your progress in the main game. Your 'status' is taken from an old save that FD migrate to the beta server, hence the disparity in ships, rank and income.

Nice move.
I was scared away from Open for quite a while as I got seal clubbed by a few psycho's a couple of times at the start.
Anyway; saved up for a good loadout - went open a few weeks ago and it has been fine : most 'real' people I have met have been really friendly. A few ignore you but leave you alone, and the 'harmless' Sidewinders seem to run away (fair do's I was there).
Not had any trouble from the socipaths this time round, mind you I am running a fully kitted out Vulture which might put them off a bit

The thing I have found is, contrary to what I was expecting, it's not crowded with real people - it seems to be a bonus meeting one, even in the popular areas?


PS: can't really help with the CQC - didn't go for the Beta, but (as above) I gather it is a stand alone module so shouldn't affect your main game.

Ive got a Cobra A4 everything except the damn power distributor I cant find. Its stuck at A3. Cant find any A5 parts at all. I do kind of like bounty hunting . I have a feeling its going to be night and day yanking a real person out of supercruise

Of course Im wanted in a few systems. I might get pulled out myself.

Im near xuanduna at the moment. I found the best trade route there so far. Im ranked in Federation, but better trading in empire that I can see.
